Kruse-ing at Sasha Shangra-La

Image

image
Most you know that I collected dolls long before I met my first Sasha doll and that I especially love cloth dolls. Sweet Abby suggested that I share some photos of the Kathe Kruse dolls that live here on the Cow Creek farm. Abby, an early AI Sasha Studio doll is shown here with an all cloth Kathe Kruse (KK) doll known as the German Child. She is about 20 inches tall, is wonderfully hand painted and, like most KK dolls, she has a human hair wig. πŸ™‚

This girl is also a German Child and about 20 inches tall. She is also all cloth but not as old as the previous girl.

image
This pretty girl is a Hampelchen with painted hair. She is about 18 inches in height. πŸ™‚

image
This beautiful girl is a Doll I H and she is about 18 inches tall. She is all cloth and her shoes and socks are appropriately replaced and not original. Β Her dress is original. πŸ™‚

image
These two girls are sisters and very early dolls. They came with mommy-made matching outfits plus these outfits they wear in the photos. ❀

Both of these girls are ponytail girls. The taller girl is about 19 inches tall and the smaller one is 14 inches tall. Their heads are synthetic and they are handpainted with human hair wigs.

This lovely girl is very early and is all cloth and about 18 inches tall. She is Doll I H and I love her face painting. ❀

image
This is a rarer Kathe Kruse doll known as a Du Mein and she is about 14 inches tall. She is hand painted, has wide hips and is all cloth too. ❀

image
This happy trio consists of a 14 inch minty girl made in the 1950’s, a small 9 inch girl known as Daumlinchen, and a 12 inch girl known as Rumpumpel. The smaller girl is cloth bodied and inside her wire limbs are wrapped in foam rubber so she is still soft but bendable which is nice for posing. :). All of the wigs are made of human hair. πŸ™‚

Very nice hand painting. πŸ™‚

An older girl with a lovely plaited wig. πŸ™‚

I love this pretty girl with a most unusual hair color. Most Kathe Kruse doll wigs are blonde or brownish in color. This brunette is a dear one!

Here she is next to a lovely puddle eyed Sasha doll that I will be adopting out. You can see this girl is a bit smaller. πŸ™‚

image
This is an eatly wide hipped Doll I that is about 17 inches tall. As you can see, she is tucked-in with other dolls in a display and I will show her better in another post along with other Kathe Kruse dolls that are not shown today. My Abby had a great idea I think to share the KK dolls with you on the blog which proves she not only has good looks but that she is a smart girl too. πŸ˜‰

Finally, a partial group photo of the KK girls. I hope you enjoyed this atypical post and thank you for visiting with us today. Abby and I are sending you hugs and happy wishes for the week to come! πŸ™‚ xxx

6. List these rules in your post.
7. Inform the people you chose of their nomination by leaving a comment on their blog and link them your post.

The 11 Questions:
1.What drew you to the hobby?
My dear Mother collected dolls and we shared our love of dolls together.

2. What was your first doll?
My first doll was a Raggedy Ann doll when I was about one year old. It was from Santa. πŸ™‚

image
This is a photo taken long ago of my first doll, Raggedy Ann. ❀

3. What was your 2015 doll regret?
2015 was a banner year for me with the addition of many wonderful dolls here at Sasha Shangri-La. However, I did lose out on one ebay purchase of a very early Gotz doll that had no mold lines plus the most amazing turquoise eyes! Looking back, I would have bid more money for her.  She did turn out to be the inspiration though for a gorgeous repaint by Janet Myhill-Dabbs. Janet painted a waif for me inspired by that early girl. ❀

image
Here she is! Her name is Heidi and she is beautiful. πŸ™‚

4. Did you sell any dolls in 2015?
Yes, I did sell several dolls in 2015, both Sasha dolls and non-Sasha dolls. I have a shop on Ruby Lane and sold several dolls from the shop plus I sold Sasha dolls directly to Sasha friends that wrote to me and wanted to adopt a certain doll. πŸ™‚

5. Do your doll characters have their own theme song?
No, no song but they have their own personalities with strengths and weaknesses but most of all they are very happy and have a strong sense of family. ❀

6. What style best describes your doll collection? (Fantasy, goth, punk etc.)
Prior to collecting Sasha dolls, I collected lovely antique and vintage cloth dolls. Also, I have dolls that belonged to my Mom too. All of these dolls do add up to a pretty big doll family. πŸ™‚

7. What sort of aesthetics do you look for in a doll?
It is a “heart” connection though the “eyes” usually grab me first. πŸ™‚

8. Have you built or plan to build any dioramas for your dolls?
No.

9. What is your 2016 doll wish list?
Maybe a very early Gotz girl with blue or blue-ish eyes plus a redheaded boy NP would be nice. Β Also, any other doll that grabs me! Β πŸ™‚

10. Do you have a ‘fantasy’ wish list? (i.e. dolls that you will never own unless you won lotto etc.)
I would adopt Sasha studio dolls that command much more money than I have spent to date and this is based on their condition and rarity. πŸ™‚

11. What do you love most about the hobby?
I love the wonderful connection with other doll collectors and getting to know them better and share the love of dolls together. I also love looking at the dolls since I am a very visual person. Plus I love the hands-on part of doll collecting which involves dressing the dolls, working with their hair styles, posing them and photographing them too. It is a very tactile hobby and is such fun to do! πŸ™‚

As for tagging anyone else, I will tag:

Kendal of Kendal’s Sasha Brood. πŸ™‚

My questions will be the same as the ones above that were given to me by Sharon.

But please don’t feel obliged to do it Kendal, it’s just fun to do. No rush either! πŸ™‚ xxx

Chloe, a long time resident of Sasha Shangri-La, has noticed a lot of excitement in the air since Christmas and New Year’s day. She is the first to discover the reason for the happy dances her Mommy has performed this week. πŸ™‚

image
Mommy explained to Chloe that she has received a passport and a book about England that has a great map too! Chloe knows Mommy loves to read and that Mommy loves maps too. ❀

image
Chloe shares her Mommy’s passions and so she sits down to have a look. πŸ™‚

image
Chloe asks, “Are you planning to go to England Mommy? You know I was born there in 1966 but I don’t remember much since I have lived in the USA for almost all of my life”. πŸ™‚

image
Mommy shared with Chloe, “Yes my love, Mommy is finally going to visit England this year! I have waited a very long time and it has been my heart’s desire to visit England since I was a young girl”. ❀

Chloe’s heart seemed to grow bigger and bigger inside feeling so full of happiness and love for her Mommy. “I am so happy for you Mommy. Let’s read the England book together and share our thoughts and dreams”. ❀

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 16,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Happy New Year for 2016! A Baby’s Liberation Revealed

Image

image
Happy New Year dear Sasha collectors! ❀

You may remember this wee baby caught in a bottle. Poor thing! He was very, very frightened to be caught in such tight quarters where he could not move his hands, head, or legs much. 😦

image
Well, with help from his Mommy, the little tyke was freed! He was much relieved but he was so very, very afraid of the big, bad bottle. 😦

imageo
[This wee one is named Calvin or Cal for short. He was found in the Pasadena, CAL-ifornia doll show last May when Laura Ward and I visited with Cassie Rogers. Laura rescued him, took him home, cleaned him up, and then kindly allowed me to adopt the sweet boy. I was over the moon for him and immediately dressed him in a lovely Diane Duke outfit.]

Now, back to the story…

Cal cried and pleaded to his Mommy to remove the big, bad bottle so he would no longer be afraid. Wisely, his Mom said to him, ” Yes baby dear, Mommy could indeed remove this big bottle so that you would not see it and you would no longer be afraid for now.” Β Mommy then cradled baby Cal in her arms and further spoke with love, “But baby dear, the world is full of big, bad bottles and while Mommy can remove them for you for a season, you must learn how to remove them for yourself.”

Cal looked with wonder at his Mommy and said “But Mommy, I am afraid of the bottle. It is much bigger than me and it might eat me again and I will be lost forever. How do I, a little tiny baby boy, remove such a huge bottle?”

Mommy lovingly said to Cal, you must have faith my son and you must face your big, bad bottle straight on with courage and you must master the bottle. When you have done this, you will be free of the bottle and it will no longer cause you to be afraid.”

Cal listened intently to every word and set out with confidence to conquer the huge towering bottle…

image
First, baby Cal decided to push the bottle over to make it more of a baby size. Β Well, that was not too hard to do!

image
“There, exclaimed Cal, I am not afraid of you! I am bigger than you now!”

image
“I can ride you bottle, like a horse! I am on top of the world and I own you now!!!”

image
A final brave act by Cal was to turn the bottle upside down and stand it up to its full, enormous size. But something had changed inside baby Cal by then….he was no longer afraid of the big bottle. “Mommy, guess what? I have faced the big, bad bottle and I am no longer afraid of it. Β  I am so happy Mommy.” πŸ™‚

“Yes, dear one, you are my brave little boy and you have not only faced and conquered your fears for this bottle but also, you are now fully prepared to address any future, big bad bottles that you might encounter. Well done my brave, wee one.” Β  With that, Mommy hugged baby Cal and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek. Β Cal liked that very much! ❀

image
“Yeah, I am strong now!” Β Cal gleefully cried.

image
“I am so happy, I am free as a bird!” said Cal.

image
Next, Mommy undressed Cal to try on his new Christmas gift outfit. πŸ™‚

image
“I love my new Charlie Brown outfit with a Snoopy hat!” said Cal. [made by Rosie Laird] πŸ™‚

image
“I feel so happy Mommy. I am riding my friend Lammy Pie! Β We are celebrating life!” claimed Cal.

image
“Yippee! Β I am a lucky baby.” Cal shouted for all to hear. πŸ™‚

image
“I think 2016 will be the best year ever Mommy!” Cal said and Mommy agreed with him! πŸ™‚

image
“Lammy Pie is so very soft.” said Cal.

image
“Lammy Pie is my friend.” Cal warmly sighed.

image
“Happy New Year everyone!” exclaimed Cal. “Mommy and I both want to thank you for visiting us today. We are sending you the happiest of wishes for 2016 and extra special wishes for your first week in 2016.” πŸ™‚ xxx

image
Note: I hope you enjoyed meeting baby Cal. I took these last few photos in an attempt to see his very nice eye painting around his raised lids. I had not noticed the wonderful detailing myself until I took these photos and was able to look closely at his eyes. Β I thought you would like to see it too. πŸ™‚ xxx
