Ryder, Gotz Straight Nose Boy

Ryder, Gotz Straight Nose Boy

You might remember Ryder that was shown here on the blog recently. I bought Ryder years ago from a member of the Sasha Mart and he came to me redressed very casually. I have wanted to see him dressed nicely and was lucky to find a handmade school boy outfit on Shelly’s site recently. Β Ryder is a Gotz straight nose boy made in the 1960’s.

image
Is this really Ryder? Yes, it is Ryder! I took photos both indoors and outdoors with the weather cooperating. πŸ™‚

image
Ryder standing next to the very sweet Fara, a 1968 English blonde fringe girl. Fara is wearing a new outfit also found on Shelly’s site. It came with a matching coat and a pretty beret. Her shoes were made by Monica Jarpey.

A close view of the well dressed pair πŸ™‚

image
Fara is one of my “low maintenance” girls. She was an ebay find some years ago and she came with beautiful, bouncing curls and she has kept them even today. Fara looks great in everything I put on her. Very easy on the eye! πŸ™‚

image
Fara wearing her pretty coat and I love the ric-rac trimming on her dress. Β The next photos will show Fara and Ryder outdoors.

image
A good full view of the handsome Ryder. One of Ryder’s happiest memories is when he spent time with Henry and Lorraine in the UK last year. He saves his special momentos from that trip in a trunk by his bed. πŸ™‚

Ryder up close.

Ryder really likes his new outfit. πŸ™‚

Fara in her new dress.

The dress ties in the back with a generous bow. Fara’s long curls can be seen in this photo.

image
We had a small visitor during the photo shoot. It was a fast moving caterpillar! I took a quick photo though and caught him before he left us. πŸ™‚

A last photo of the happy pair. Fara and Ryder thank you for visiting Sasha Shangri-La. They both are sending you hugs and their good wishes for the rest of the week! πŸ™‚ xxxx

A Fast and Fun Friday with Val

Image

image
This sweet little waif is Val. Val was an ebay find and came to me years ago in a tiny shipping box with her head, hair, legs and arms all in a jumble and no stringing in sight! Β Val will always be a waif to me becauseΒ I can’t seem to erase my first impression of her and that is perfectly ok with me since I love waifs! πŸ™‚

image
I was the lucky buyer of this Ra-Ra outfit with stripy socks made by the very talented Sharon Humphreys. Val is the perfect girl to wear this fun outfit because she is very shy and wearing this outfit gives her confidence. πŸ˜‰

image
Val’s purple leather shoes were made by Jean Jensen.

image
I think Val looks great in her new outfit! Β She came with her hair cut this way and the side wings. Β It seems to suggest a ponytail hair style.

image
A different view of Val. Ra-Ra!! πŸ™‚

A final photo of Val and she is sending hugs and well wishes to you for a great day and weekend ahead! πŸ™‚ xxx

Ben is Gracie’s Big Brother and Her ” Bennie”

Image

image
Our newest boy is Ben and he is a dear boy. He has been in his well-made, red overall outfit for many years. I was fortunate to be able to order several Sasha Studio outfits from Thu Cuc Faes in Switzerland and it includes the well-made farm boy outfit shown here today. Ben looks very happy to wear this new shirt, jeans, and hand knitted socks. Β The leather boots are fabulous!

image
Adding this vest and putting on his boots really looks smart on sweet Ben.

image
Now we add his matching cap.

image
He matching jacket fits perfectly too. I left the jacket unbuttoned in this photo to show the vest and the wonderful lining. The vest and cap are lined too. πŸ™‚

image
A close view of the dear Ben’s face. Please excuse the straying hairs.

image
A buttoned jacket on Ben. So nice to have pockets.

A close view of Ben with his cap set aside. πŸ™‚

Well, well, look who’s here! Little Gracie could no longer resist the strong arms of her brother, Ben. Β Gracie was the first sibling to welcome the sweet natured Ben. Β She lovingly calls Ben “Bennie” because she is “Gracie” coming from Grace. She took note of her Bennie and his extraordinary physical strength but gentle nature. πŸ™‚

image
Gracie affectionately asks Bennie to give her a big hug! πŸ™‚

image
Dear Bennie gives Gracie a brotherly hug. Gracie has unknowingly captured Bennie’s heart and he feels very protective and loving towards his baby sister.

image
A very happy Gracie with her big brother, Bennie πŸ™‚

image
Gracie asks Bennie if she can play with him. You can find a wheelbarrow on most farms. πŸ˜‰

image
Bennie loves to play and is charmed by Gracie’s invitation.

image
Bennie asks Gracie to go outdoors and she is happy to do so. πŸ™‚

image
A photo of Ben outdoors. I am using doll stands to make it as safe as possible for Ben and Gracie.

image
A close view of Ben.

image
Gracie with her brother, Bennie. Β It feels so good to be outdoors!

image
Oh happy day! πŸ™‚

image
Bennie finds two pumpkins for Gracie to enjoy. He suggests to Gracie that it looks like Fall is coming!

image
Bennie and Gracie with their Fall pumpkins. They love being outdoors though it was very hot with the summer temperatures still holding on….

image
Gracie wearing her big brother’s cap and feeling very loved. Isn’t it wonderful to have a big brother? πŸ™‚

image
Gracie is waving to you! Β She and her Bennie are sending you all big hugs and well wishes for the remaining week! πŸ™‚

Benjamin Joins the Sasha Shangri-La Family

Image

image
Please meet a wonderful Studio boy named Benjamin or Ben. :). Ben has joined us here at Sasha Shangri-La. It is nice to find a boy Studio doll and I think Ben is a very handsome lad.

image
Ben is a BII studio with a “B” type body which is a five piece jointed body. In the great reference book, “Sasha Dolls – The History” by Anne Votaw with Ann Chandler and Susanna Lewis, it explains the B-Body was made from 1944-1968. Ben’s handsome face is made of gypsum. It is facemask type II so Ben is a BII Studio doll.

image
This photo is a bit out of focus so please excuse. Β Sweet Ben came wearing this outfit made from Sasha patterns by the original Swiss owner. The red overalls are very well made with attractive top stitching. His gray shirt has a nice ricrac trimming and he has woolen socks and black felt shoes. Β Don’t miss his handy hankerchief in his left pocket πŸ™‚

image
You can see his nice legs in this photo. πŸ™‚

image
Ben has a two piece, hand knitted under pants and shirt set.

image
A closer view of Ben’s face. He has a few, small chips in his gypsum. I love his eye painting by Sasha Morgenthaler and his inquisitive expression. πŸ™‚

image
Another close view of Ben’s face. He has a very nice and full human hair wig. Β It is a challenge to photograph Ben because the light reflects off of the surface. I hope you can see him clearly and I will be taking more photos of Ben outdoors very soon.

image
Ben is sitting down and holding a new pair of leather boots that are part of his new outfit made by Thu Cuc Faes. The next post will be Ben wearing his new outfit and Gracie will be joining him. πŸ™‚

image
A last photo that is enhanced to look like an etching or drawing. I think Ben looks so very sweet. Thank you for visiting Sasha Shangri-La πŸ™‚ xxx

Please meet Nancy

Image

image
This lovely girl was repainted by Shelly Baxter. Her name is Nancy.

image
Nancy is wearing a beautiful outfit made by Nancy Collins. It was gifted to me at the Festival in Phoenix. Its previous life was a tea towel with different bottles of spices and pretty colors. So very nice to recycle lovely fabrics. Β The bolero is a perfect accessory to the sleeveless dress.

image
One bottle is the spice “Ginger”. πŸ™‚

image
I love these knickers which can be a pair of shorts too.

image
Nancy’s leather shoes were purchased from Cassie of Sashapotamus at the Festival.

image
Lastly, a close view of Shelly’s eye painting. I think Nancy is a lovely girl. πŸ™‚
