Benjamin Joins the Sasha Shangri-La Family

image
Please meet a wonderful Studio boy named Benjamin or Ben. :). Ben has joined us here at Sasha Shangri-La. It is nice to find a boy Studio doll and I think Ben is a very handsome lad.

Ben is a BII studio with a “B” type body which is a five piece jointed body. In the great reference book, “Sasha Dolls – The History” by Anne Votaw with Ann Chandler and Susanna Lewis, it explains the B-Body was made from 1944-1968. Ben’s handsome face is made of gypsum. It is facemask type II so Ben is a BII Studio doll.

This photo is a bit out of focus so please excuse. Β Sweet Ben came wearing this outfit made from Sasha patterns by the original Swiss owner. The red overalls are very well made with attractive top stitching. His gray shirt has a nice ricrac trimming and he has woolen socks and black felt shoes. Β Don’t miss his handy hankerchief in his left pocket πŸ™‚

You can see his nice legs in this photo. πŸ™‚

Ben has a two piece, hand knitted under pants and shirt set.

A closer view of Ben’s face. He has a few, small chips in his gypsum. I love his eye painting by Sasha Morgenthaler and his inquisitive expression. πŸ™‚

Another close view of Ben’s face. He has a very nice and full human hair wig. Β It is a challenge to photograph Ben because the light reflects off of the surface. I hope you can see him clearly and I will be taking more photos of Ben outdoors very soon.

Ben is sitting down and holding a new pair of leather boots that are part of his new outfit made by Thu Cuc Faes. The next post will be Ben wearing his new outfit and Gracie will be joining him. πŸ™‚

A last photo that is enhanced to look like an etching or drawing. I think Ben looks so very sweet. Thank you for visiting Sasha Shangri-La πŸ™‚ xxx

  1. Wow Ginger, he is absolutely fabulous, you do find them don’t you?! A little bit of green eyed envy going on over here πŸ˜‰ He has such a cute little outfit as well. Did you name him or did he come with his name.

I bet he will fit in very well with the rest of your gorgeous Sasha family.

  2. Ben is so very handsome! I’m thrilled to know that he is part of your growing family. I have no doubt that others are making him quite welcome. Thank you for telling us about him!

    • Hi Karen and thank you for writing. Ben is quite the boy here now and little Gracie is particularly smitten with him. He is also a very kind hearted boy. He loves the farm and the simple pleasures of life πŸ™‚ xxx

  3. My! Your Sasha Collection seems to be delightfully increasing by the week (whereas alas mine is unfortunately doing the opposite!)
Ben is an early and truly attractive little lad. How great that you have managed to buy such an early example of Sasha’s studio work. Certainly a prized show piece. Congratulations to you both and I’m sure that we will be seeing much more of him as you enjoy future time with each other.

    • Thank you Kendal. We are very excited about Ben and he is fitting in to farm life very well. I think he may been outdoors a lot in his previous life in Switzerland. He took to the mountains here at Sasha Shangri-La quickly as well as the surrounding farm land. We love him very much! πŸ™‚ xxx

    • Hi Sarah! I wish I could pull studio dolls out of a hat, like magic! It would be much more kind on the worn bank account. πŸ™‚ LOL :).

Ben was found here in the USA in a closing doll museum that also sells dolls. He was the last Sasha studio doll to be sold and there were others with him but they sold much earlier. I was so very happy to adopt him! πŸ™‚ xxx

  4. What a rare find Ginger, I expect there is much whooping in your house right now. Thank you for sharing another of your many treasures x

  5. What a little sweetie Ginger! I love his chubby legs too….and such a handsome face. A truly handsome young man for sure!
    Big hugs Sharon xx
