About mountainmullins

Sasha doll collector primarily plus other interesting dolls. I inheirited my love of dolls from my dear Mother and also her collection. My first Sasha doll was Gwennie, a redheaded studio doll. Since Gwennie, I have collected other Sasha dolls and love their individual personalities created by their eye painting, hair color and styling, and dressing them. It is such fun to share with other collectors!

Psssssst……It’s Me…..Gracie!

Hi everyone! Mummy is in the kitchen again and it sure smells wonderful here at Sasha Shangri-La.  With Mummy away, it’s time for another “Gracie” blog post!  We received a big, wonderful box from Thu Cuc Faes wo lives in Switzerland.  Mummy was so happy to get this box and look at my new outfit that was found inside! 🙂

image
My brother Bennie has a new outfit too. We look like twins! 🙂

(Bennie is a BII Sasha studio doll and Gracie is a Sasha studio bebe)

image
I love Bennie! Everyone calls him Ben except me. He is my Bennie! ❤

image
Bennie and me, Gracie!  We can play outdoors now, yipee!!!

image
When I stand next to Bennie like this, I am taller than he is! 🙂

image
But, when Bennie stands up, he is a bit taller than me…don’t we look nice in our new outfits?  They fit perfectly!

image
Please hold me Bennie, I feel so wee next to you.  I need a hug!

image
Well, Bennie found my new red wool, hooded duffle coat to help me feel better. 🙂

image
You know what? Bennie is so smart, I do feel better! 🙂

image
I just love sitting on Bennie’s lap. ❤

image
He is so big and strong.  Bennie told me that God made him strong to help others that are weaker. I know this is true, I can feel it in my heart. ❤

image
But most if all, Bennie is kind and sweet and he loves me. ❤

image
Bennie found this nice wooden sled and it fits me perfectly! 🙂

image
He promised to take me outdoors to ride the sled when we get a good snow. I can’t wait to have fun in the snow. 🙂

A last photo of Bennie and me and we thank you for visiting us here at Sasha Shangri-La. We send you big “Bennie” hugs and sweet “Gracie” kisses too! ❤ xxxooo

Abby’s Happy Christmas Dress

Image

image
Abby is very happy to show you her beautiful new dress made by the very talented Thu Cuc Faes. The dress was made for Abby as a Christmas present! ❤

image
Abby loves her new dress and the beautiful red leather shoes with white knitted socks!  Her pink teddy bear is just happy to be at Abby’s side. 🙂

Abby is an early studio doll and her lovely facial features were hand painted by Sasha Morgenthaler herself.  Her yarn wig is original to her and found on some of the early studio dolls.  Her body type is “A” and the same body type that was used years later during the production of the Course dolls from 1970-1993. ❤

image
I think this shade of red looks very pretty on Abby. ❤

A nice close-up photo of the lovely fabric and smocking. 🙂

imageI I thought you might like to see the dress and matching pant. This photo and the next photo are by Thu Cuc. 🙂

I want you to see the back of Abby’s dress and the generous sash that ties into a bow. 🙂

A last photo of Abby and she thanks you for visiting Sasha Shangri-La and sends you a big hug along with happy wishes for the week to come! 🙂 xxx

Who’s there?

Wow wee!!!   So much beautiful hair!

image

The lovely Sarah Williams has diligently worked her “magic” on this beautiful girl ❤

image

And out of the random chaos of hugh masses of hair, comes beauty and order and perfection!

image

Please meet Whitney.   She has about 155 plaits. 🙂

image
Whitney is wearing a beautiful outfit also fashioned by Sarah. I love her turquoise leather shoes. ❤

image

Whitney brought with her a gorgeous coat and beret.

I absolutely love this color on Whitney!  I love this coat and beret too! ❤

Thank you for stopping by Sasha Shangri-La. 🙂 xxx

1966 “Reds” — A Very Happy Birthday

Image

A very quick post today because it is my birthday and I am posting before we go to dinner!   A most wonderful present from my husband and sons was this ochre eyed, German made, Gotz girl with beautiful red hair. She arrived earlier this week and I put this knitted hat on her for a day to tame her pretty fringe 🙂

image

She came wearing her original dress and pant and white leather shoes. She belonged to a lovely lady and she had been her childhood doll and wonderfully cared for since the 1960’s!  So I am her second owner and, to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time that I have adopted a childhood doll directly from the first owner.  Since I did not have a Sasha doll as a child, it is very special to be owner number two. 🙂

image
I was thrilled to adopt this yellow-eyed beauty and expectedly named her Amber. 🙂

image
Today, I redressed Amber and stored her original outfit safely away. A pretty floral dress, warm cardi, knitted socks and JJ leather shoes and Amber is starting to feel at home here at Sasha Shangri-La. 🙂  A huggable bunny is always nice to have in a new place.

image

Even better is to have a warm and loving welcome from your new sisters.  Also made in 1966 and also with pretty red hair, Sylvia on the left and Joy on the right surround Amber with happy sisterly greetings. ❤

image
The lovely Sylvia with brown eyes and made during the English production in 1966.

image
The lovely Joy with blue eyes and made during the English production in 1966.

image
Three lovely “reds” with different eye colors and I have to say that 1966 was a very good year! ❤

A view of Amber from the side.

Amber taking-in her new surroundings in stride. 😉

A last photo of Amber and she sends you big hugs and very happy wishes for a great week to come! 🙂 xxx

Gracie’s Gifts

Image

image
Hi there everyone, it’s me again, Gracie! Mummy went to the kitchen and I just had to tell you the very best of news!   I, Gracie, have just received my very first post in the mail. It’s a big box!  Oh joy! 🙂

image
Oh my, what do think is inside? It is a wonderful surprise! 🙂

image
Oh, how lovely, a card with my name, Gracie, written on it. Mummy read it to me and the box was sent by my loving Godmother, Norvell Jones. Auntie Norvell put two wrapped packages inside the box. How exciting, I want to dance around the room!

image
The first package has a pretty yellow ribbon tied in a bow.  Can’t wait to see inside!!!!

image
Oh my, it is a beautiful pale, yellow corduroy dress! I love it! ❤

image
Mummy showed me the wonderful smocking and she said that I would have to wait but would be able to try it on very soon. But, I do not want to wait!!! 😦

image
After Mummy stepped away, I found the pretty yellow ribbon!

image
I love ribbons, don’t you? ❤

image
I really want to wear this pretty dress……Mummy said soon but it is so hard to wait……. 😦

image
Lookie, I think it will look pretty on me, don’t you?  I do think I can try it on by myself, don’t you?

image
Auntie Norvell’s tag is sewn in the dress seam. :). It is sooooo hard to wait on Mummy…. 😦

image
Well, I just had to try on my new dress. Isn’t it lovely? This is the first yellow dress I have owned and it is so soft and it is so warm! 🙂

image
I love my new dress!  It fits me perfectly. ❤

image
I thought I heard Mummy coming but she is still in the kitchen, whew….. 🙂

image
My big sister Claire just gave me this precious little teddy bear made by Ted Menten. Ted gifted the bear to Claire when he made a beautiful white studio dress for her a few years ago. Claire said the teddy is perfect next to my new dress!  I think the teddy is perfect for me.  Today is such a special day and it just keeps on getting better! 🙂

image
I think I will sit and rest a bit….but I want to open the second package very much. 🙂

image
Since Mummy is still away, I wanted to look at the second package. Inside is a beautiful pink dress made by Auntie Norvell. I have worn this dress once before and she wanted to make some alterations. So, I am so happy to have this pink dress back. 🙂

image
A lovely printed fabric.   Why is Mummy spending so much time in the kitchen? I do not like waiting…… 😦

image
Well, i just could not wait on Mummy. I love my pretty pink dress too! ❤

image
I pushed my hair back with this sparkly, pink bug clip. Isn’t it just divine??? 🙂

image
I think that pink is such a pretty color!

image
I hope that Mummy will not be cross with me. In a way, I am helping her by learning to dress myself and to style my hair. I am a big girl now and not a baby anymore. I want to help my Mummy. I love her with all my heart. ❤

image
Teddy just looks great with my pink dress too!  He is very soft and cuddly. 🙂

image
I think I will sit down and think about how very special today has been for me, Gracie.  I think that I am the luckiest little girl in the whole wide world!!! 🙂

I think I hear Mummy coming up the stairs. I am going to sit very still and look at her very sweetly and tell her that I love her. I hope she will understand why I could not wait for her to dress me.  I hope she thinks that I look pretty in my dress!

Auntie Norvell, thank you so very much for my dresses. I love them both very, very much!

Oh, Mummy is here now…..

image
Well…..everything is just fine here at Sasha Shangri-La. Mummy did gently remind me how important it is to mind what Mummy says to do and that it is for my own good. She told me that I might get hurt by taking risky steps while she is away.  I told Mummy that I would try very hard to be a good girl! 🙂

She picked me up and kissed me on my head. She carefully removed the sparkly bug clip and replaced it with a soft, pink satin ribbon saying that it would be much gentler on my precious Gracie head. She rejoined me with my sisters Adeline and Chloe and with my brother, Bennie, who is always close by and also my big sister, Marie, giving me a comforting touch to the shoulder.  They all said that they missed me!  I feel so very happy today and I feel so excited down in my tummy, like butterflies, because I am so loved in my Sasha family. ❤

I, Gracie, am waving goodbye, wishing you a great week to come, and sending you great big Gracie hugs! 🙂 xxx
