Additions from the Sasha Festival

Finally, I have photos of the new goodies brought home from the 2018 Sasha Festival held in Minnesota.  The first photos were taken indoors due to the extreme heat we are experiencing here at Sasha Shangri-La. These first photos were of items that I had set aside due to our having some overnight guests. I was able to find these quickly but alas, I could not find the rest of the items set aside until today. I had checked just about everywhere 2-3 times and finally gave up and retreated to my little prayer space to seek some peace and to ask for help in finding the lost treasures. While sitting there, I happened to look down and there was a large birthday tote bag that I saved from Ricks birthday party on June 29th. I looked under the tissue paper, and there the lost items were hiding very well in plain sight.  Answered prayer for my forgetful mind. I hope I am not the only one who misplaces things!

Experiencing great relief, I wasted no time and went straight outdoors to take the remaining photos plus a few extra shots. It was already hot and in the upper 80’s just before noon.

Here we go!

The first round of photos taken indoors:

A baby nest made by Granny Peggy.

A beautiful shawl made by Diane Duke.

The Festival  luncheon gift wrapped in this nice felt bag.

Adorable outfit inside the bag with suede moccasins.

Front and back of the amazing Festival outfit received at dinner Saturday night.

A lovely gift given by the Minnesota ladies to those who were a hostess during the festival.

Gifts given by our table hostess, Frances.  The shorts and striped bloomers were gifts in registration packets.

I bought the dress from Frances and bought the boy’s romper suit made by Sheila.

This beautiful, studio size Christmas dress and the gorgeous sweater set below were gifts from dear friends.

I purchased two pair of Marti’s Birkenstocks and I really like these colors.

A sock purchase plus I received another mug rug below made by Frances.

The second round of photos:

I won three auctions and this is the first.

Finn is modeling my big auction win and I understand they added up all the monies to be $15,000.00 for children’s charities before the corporate matches. Wonderful! This remarkable sweater and hat were designed and made by Diane Duke, the perfect navy pants were made by Judith of Dollydoodles and the outstanding leather boots were made by Noreen. What a great outfit!  Finn will never want to change outfits ever again and he managed to smile with temperatures in the high 80’s while modeling! Fetch was brave too!

Please see the extraordinary details on Finn’s boots. The block design is even on the inside of each boot as well as the outside. Amazing! Noreen even included an extra set of ties in the shoe box. I am so happy with this win.

My second auction win is an amazing knitted sweater made by Catherine French. Catherine donated 5 sweaters and so there was a Dutch auction for them. It began with everyone standing that wants a sweater and the auctioneer begins with a starting bid and then increases the bids. People sit down when they no longer want to bid any higher and auctioneer continues until there are only 5 people remain standing. The sweaters were all different and the ladies that were organizing the auctions wins selected the sweaters so there was no room for debates.  I loved all 5 sweaters so was very happy with this nautical styled one.  Here are some close up photos of this remarkable knitted treasure.

My third auction win is a nice group of items. It caught my eye due to the red leather sandals.  I think they are from the Gotz girl named Lilly and nice to have for girls or boys.

Purchases from the sales room are seen in the following three photos.

Baby outfit.

Fun outfit.

Baby coats.

Festival readings and ID lantern.

A great Festival parting gift.  It is wonderful to experience the generosity of Sasha collectors. What a special group of ladies in Minnesota!

This is Morgen, a very special Gotz girl who was painted by Sasha herself.  I wanted to show her in this pretty smocked frock made by Millie Dingham and pink leather sandals found on Shelly’s site (maker unknown). Morgen holds a pale pink Steiff bear.  I just love Morgen and so I have taken a lot of photos of her. I hope you enjoy seeing them.

It was a little windy so please excuse stray hair.

A very sweet girl.

Millie even smocks the back of the dress.

Extra touches like lace trimming is so nice to see.

Morgen and Finn both thank you for visiting with us today.

Back in the air conditioned house, we find sweet Gracie snuggled in between Ben and Gigi and she sends her love to you all. She said we were crazy and absolutely nuts to go outdoors in such hot weather especially wearing knitted clothing. She loves her new sweater coat that was a Festival helper win and she insists it is a dress and one too hot to wear outside in July. So Gracie will stay snuggled up indoors with her brother and sister.

“Love to you all” said Gracie.

“Bye bye” said Gracie. “Have a great day and week to come” XXX

A few Waterlogue images for you to see.

  1. Looks like you have a wonderful festival haul Ginger. Such a nice variety !
And even a Catherine French cardigan ! I have to agree any knitwear by Catherine is worth it’s weigh in gold donations 😉
Millie looks wonderful and I love her smocked dress and pink teddy.
Oh and I’m always losing things that then appear in plain sight! so annoying! lol
Have a lovely week 🙂 xxx

    • Thank you Dee! I am so glad to know that I am not the only one losing things and then finding them. It was a great time at the Festival and Catherine’s sweater is really a work of art. I am very lucky. I hope you have had your rain! ❤️ xxx

  2. Ginger it was lovely to remember highlights of the Sasha Festival through the eyes of Finn, Morgan and Gracie! Thank you for sharing!

  3. I don’t blame Finn for wanting to show off that outfit. Who cares what the temperature is when you look that ‘cool’! Morgan is such a stunning girl and looks absolutely lovely in that dress. The festival souvenirs were all amazing. We really enjoyed meeting Diane and Catherine – very talented ladies and super nice too.

    • Thanks Steven. II agree, Finn does look really cool in that outfit! Morgen is such a sweet girl and the camera loves her. 😊

I had the best time at the Festival and what great gifts! It is nice to meet new people who love Sasha dolls too plus each year it is nice to renew friendships. I am so happy you both came this year and hope you come next year. 😊 xxx

  4. Superb post of fantastic dolls, wonderful outfits and delightful Festival gifts… not to mention your Auction and sales wins. Hard to choose just what I loved the best BUT it might have to go to Millie Dingham’s smocked dress. that Morgen is wearing.
Over the years i have had several of her delightful dressses, as I used to send some spending money out with Marie Morgan when she attended the US Sasha Festivals…plus I used to buy Carolyn Campbell’s niece’s Festival gift outfits etc. after the Festival. I too love how Millie smocks the backs of her dresses.

I’m sure that little Gracie loves her new coat so much that not getting another dress as planned is now long forgotten.
Finn looks very handsome in his UK gifted Auction won outfit,
Catherine French’s knits are so very precious aren’t they?
Love too your other gifts from your friends etc

Thanks for these wonderful photos showing us your Festival goodies… especially those taken out in this intense heat.

    • Hi Kendal and thank you for the lovely comments. I did not know that Marie had attended Festivals here in the US. I would have loved to have met her and to thank her for her many kindnesses to me. Since my first Festival was in 2013, I probably missed the times that Marie was here. I am a big fan of Millie’s smocking and am lucky to have a few pieces by her.

Gracie just loves her new coat and so far is content to stay indoors so she can continue to wear it comfortably. She is a sweet girl but also head strong! Finn says thank you for complementing his new outfit. Yes, I agree that Catherine’s knitting is precious and just extraordinary. I am happy to own a piece.

I hope you are getting a break in your heat wave Kendal. Today is in the low 90’s here and it feels much less hot than last week as it reached upper nineties and extreme humidity put it over 100 degrees. We are inclined to take more photos when temperatures are pleasant. Have a great week! ❤️ xxx

  5. Some great wins/gifts/purchases here. The pink sandals look very similar to ones sold by Boneka, but I’m not sure if they are exactly the same. Good thing you’ve got air con since Gracie won’t take her coat/dress off. I love the shawl made by Diane, and of course Finn’s outfitxx

    • Thank you Tricia! I am happy with the winnings this year. I appreciate the Boneka information. I wondered if they were Boneka myself but I don’t have many shoes by them. Have a great weekend! ❤️ xxx

  6. Oh my goodness, you did bring home some lovely things Ginger, and yes, I regularly ‘lose’ things and they tend to turn up right under my nose!!! I swear we have Borrowers living in this house 😉
It was great to see Finn in his beautiful outfit, he always looks so handsome but this suits him perfectly.
I also enjoyed seeing all the photos of Morgan, she is a very pretty girl, it’s amazing to think that she was actually painted by Sasha herself!!!!
Big hugs and thanks for sharing 🙂

    • Thank you Sharon for letting me know that I am not the only one misplacing things. I am going to try to be better organized and maybe that will help. 😬

I am glad you liked the post. Finn is the nicest boy and he never asks for anything and yet he is the main receiver here on Cow Creek. Morgen is a joy to have and the camera loves her. Thank you for the big hugs! ❤️ xxx

  7. Loving this post!!!! You won some amazing items. Congrats! And your kids are treasures. Thank you for sharing. We had so much fun putting together the Festival this year. Enjoyed the time we spent with all of you. Looking forward to seeing you next year.

    • Hi JoAnn! It was a wonderful Festival and I enjoyed every minute spent in Minnesota! Thank you for a wonderful Sasha time. I am glad you liked the post. See you next year my friend! ❤️ xxx

  8. What a lovely treasure trove of goodies Ginger. I was fascinated especially by the Dutch Auction and how that worked. I am so pleased you hung on in there as that cardigan by Catherine French is just stunning. I really love the fine work and design and look forward to seeing it on one of your kids. I have said before how much i love Gracie’s beautiful little knitted coat and Morgan looks so pretty and summery in her lovely pink dress. I can see she stole the camera for a while! ❤

    • Thank you Janet! I was a bit carried away with photographing Morgen. She really just “does it” for me and it is fun spending time taking photos of her.

The Dutch auction was exciting and it really built up great anticipation because until you had paid and peered into the bag, you had no idea which knitted treasure you had won. Exciting!

Gracie is a very happy girl having now been to three festivals in a row. She is hoping it is now a tradition that will continue in the future. ❤️ xxx
