Saying Goodbye to the Outer Banks

image

A view of the sun rising on the morning of our last day at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Such a beautiful place to visit.

image
Rick and I walked along the beach with Shelby early each day.  She really enjoyed her walks. 🙂

I am so happy we brought dear Shelby with us. It was a perfect family outing. ❤

image
Later, we returned to the beach for a walk and, as you can see, my son Tyler was able to join us mid-week which made our perfect family outing even more perfect. ❤

image
A lovely pelican flew by which was often seen along the beach. 🙂

image
Pearl finally made it to the beach and spent most of her time playing in the sand. She made a big castle with a nice moat. 🙂

image
Pearl loves her sand bucket and became a little tired after all of her hard work! 😉

image
She finally rested and enjoyed the ocean view. 🙂

image
Pearl and I enjoyed watching the boys play ball. 🙂

image
Pearl sadly waves goodbye to the ocean that is so big and beautiful to see. She said that she will miss the beach.

What we leave behind are our footprints in the sand.  What we take with us are the fondest memories of loving times spent together as a family. ❤

Thank you all for visiting us while we were on holiday and away from Sasha Shangri-La.  It was a special time for our family and it is always nice to return safely home and rekindle our love of the mountains and our little piece of heaven on earth, Sasha Shangri-La.  We are sending you big hugs and happy wishes for a wonderful week to come. 🙂 xxx

  1. I, too, love the Outer Banks, Ginger, but it’s been about 40 years since I was there. Be careful about exposing your NP to much sunlight.

    • Hi Anne! Thank you for your wise caution for the NP in the sunlight. Pearl was safely rolled up in a beach towel and only came out briefly for the photos. I do try to handle them with extra care and don’t want them to be harmed by the sunlight and a kindly reminder is always welcomed! 🙂 xxx

  2. It looks lovely there Ginger, sort of reminds me a bit of the Atlantic coast of Florida, I have spent many many wonderful holidays there and remember the pelicans flying by or sitting on the pier at Cocoa Beach watching the fishermen! Such wonderful memories and your photos have brought them all back to me….even though they are never far from my mind, just as yours will be when you are back with your mountains at Sasha Shangri La! I’m so glad you had a wonderful time and that the dolly kids did too, as well as Shelby!
    Big hugs xxx

    • Thank you Sharon and it is so nice this post has brought back wonderful memories to you! I think I was writing on your blog when you were writing on mine! How nice is that? 🙂

We did have such a great time and Shelby added so much to our trip. Though she is a large dog, we found the room for her and she traveled comfortably though she was a bit anxious at times. We stopped often for her at rest areas which helped a lot. All together, a wonderful vacation! 🙂 xxx

  3. what a lovely beach and holiday, I’m glad you were able to photograph Pearl on the beach and were careful about too much sunlight for her (I’m sure you protected your own skin too).

    • Thank you DollMum. I am glad too that I photographed Pearl on the beach. We had such a great time! Yes, I tried to remind all of us to use sunscreen and it worked—no sunburns! 🙂 xxx

  4. What a lovely final post for your wonderful vacation. I am so happy that your family had such a good relaxing time together, and Shelby does look like she really enjoyed herself. A very cute and lovely doggy. Your photographs were once again beautiful, and really captured the expansive wonder of the ocean in all its many moods. What a great way for your family to spend time together in the summer.

I am glad that Pearl got to see the beach too. Her beach outfit was absolutely charming and it looked like she had a wonderful time. The pictures of her waving were both sweet and poignant. She is really a lovely little doll. My dolls are all very happy that Finn, Gertie and Pearl had such a wonderful time with your family, and really enjoyed seeing the photographs you took of them. They all send their sweetest kisses and virtual hugs to your many children and the boys all send “high fives” over Finn’s way and to all his brothers too. Theresa was thrilled to get Gertie’s greetings to her and returns them. “I am so glad that you enjoyed your wonderful visit to the beach. Yodalie Yee Hoo, dear Schwesterlie (that means little sister).”

I am so very flattered that your dolls will wish to call me “Mami,” and very honored to accept, if they choose to do so. They are all so lovely and sweet. It will be like adding a whole bunch of little nieces and nephews to my already wonderful family.

I think I must agree that Sasha Morganthaler would be pleased at the wonderful Sasha community out there. She wanted to make dolls that were accessible to everyone, and bring a little beauty and play to everyone’s heart, and I think that dream is truly realized in all the people that have come to love these dolls, and share them with the world and each other. I feel like we are all happy playmates and best friends, playing with our dolls and sharing love and happiness and imaginative stories, whether it is in person or virtually, through pictures, blogs or just an exchange of comments. It makes the world so much warmer and sweeter, don’t you think?

Thank you once again for sharing. All our love to you, your family, Shelby, and all the lucky children at Sasha Shangri-La.

    • Thank you Elisabeth! We all had a great time and it had been two years since we went to the beach as a family so we really appreciated the time together. ❤

I do think the world is a much nicer place when we share our happy Sasha times with one another and the joy they bring to us. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Sasha collecting community. 🙂

Gertie sweetly asked me to relay to you and little Theresa "Yodalie Yee Hoo, dear Schwesterlie. I am sending you hugs! I am so happy that we can be penpals."

Have a wonderful week! 🙂 xxx

  5. Looks so wonderful there Ginger I bet it was hard to leave. There is nothing like spending a few days by the sea and walking on the beach with family and friends .
Pearl looked like she enjoyed her visit too!
Hope you all had a wonderful rest and are ready to enjoy being back at home once again. 🙂 xxx

    • Hi Dee! It was hard to leave and I would have loved to stay for the entire summer if it were possible. We are now back at work and will be catching up for a few days. The memories are wonderful and I am so happy we had that time together. 🙂 xxx
