Doll Challenge – Pick Three….Any Three….Can You?

The past twelve months have been very very good to us here at Sasha Shangri-La. They say that confession is good for the soul, so I am being good and fully disclosing the adoptions and repaintings that have occurred during the past 12 months. I am also really struggling with selecting only 3 Sashas as favorite dolls. It is similar to asking a mother to select a favorite son or daughter……it just cannot be done.

So, I thought it would be nice to show all of them here together and hopefully you will enjoy seeing them again. If you would like to weigh-in and let me know your favorites or your top three picks, please do! I love hearing from you and it is interesting to know the dolls that really touch your heart. ❤

After listing the dolls that  I have adopted in the past twelve months, to include the repaints which are not entirely new adoptions, I am a bit sheepish to list additional dolls that I would like to own but I think I should at least comply with the request as much as possible. 😉 So here goes….. I would like a 1) redheaded NP boy; 2) A “C” body studio doll; and 3) A toddler studio doll.

Lastly, I cannot think of others to tag as most of you have been tagged before today. If you have not been tagged, and wish to share your favorite dolls purchased in the past year, list three dolls on your wish list and tag 5 people; please consider yourself now officially tagged! Thank you all for visiting, have a wonderful weekend and I am sending hugs your way! 🙂 xxx

p.s. I have a couple of dolls that I have received but they have not been introduced on the blog so I have left them off this list and will show them very soon and consider them as being adopted in the next 12 months. 😉

p.s.s.  Dee, how did I do???

  1. LOL Ginger, did I count around about 31 new dolls this year? All absolutely amazing and wow I can well imagine how difficult it would be to pick just three, although I would say Gertie would be my favourite of them all I think….and I do very much love your course boy from Ann – if only I had known they were for sale, I would have snatched him up 😉

So lovely to see them all, beautifully dressed and loved. Thank you for sharing them and good luck with those on your wish list.

    • Lorraine, I did not have the heart to count….LOL….I just uploaded and posted… As you can see, Gertie is shown first and there is a reason for her having that position…..she has captured my heart totally and completely and unlike any other doll I have owned. But please don’t tell the others….;)

I think our tastes are very similar and I thank you for writing and sharing your favorites with me. My wish list will probably be just that for a long time but it is good to have dreams! 🙂 xxx

      • Indeed I think they are 🙂 Gertie is very special and I am so pleased for you, and no I won’t tell the others as I know they are also loved a cherished as well in their own way. 🙂 Again, thank you for sharing and post as many pictures of Gertie as you like!

  2. Wow…. Hard one for sure! I have 4? Mae, Marcie, Whitney and Pearl. Those are my picks. But even then, I could have easily thrown in a couple more! Sammie is up there too.

  3. Hi Ginger its Audrey,Chris and Ginny for me, they are all gorgeous but these are the three i would pick. Theresa x

  4. Hi Ginger, My three favorites are Pearl, Adeline and Marcie. It is of course very difficult to choose, but I cannot resist a soulful NP or No Navel. Even though I sold Marcie to you, she still is such a charmer. Thank you for sharing these beautiful dolls. Quite a family!! Hugs,
    Ellen

    • Hi Ellen! Thank you for sharing your favorite picks. Marcie is indeed a charmer. I love the photos you took of her. Just beautiful. 🙂

Thank you too for the lovely comments about my Sasha family. Have a beautiful weekend. ❤ xxx

  5. So Brave Ginger to show them all 🙂 I have to say that Marcie, Pearl, Gertie and Audrey are the ones that speak the most to me 🙂 and I could probably list a few more :)Like Chris , love the shorts boys 🙂
I wonder if I could count any dolls that arrive since my list as being next twelve month dolls? would save me a donation or six!! 🙂
You did magnificently , loved seeing all these wonderful dolls I think we’ve both had very good Sasha year :)xxx

    • Hi Dee! I think if I had counted them, I would have thought twice about posting the entire lot. But I have to say that I find it is good to take stock of our Sashas and think of the joy that they bring to us.

I guess we now have two timelines. One is the calendar year and the other starts with the World Doll Day! I see donations on my horizon! 🙂

Thank you for the kind words of support and I am happy you enjoyed the post. We have both had wonderful Sasha years! ❤ xxx

      • WE have indeed both had wonderful Sasha years and we still have six months to go! 🙂
I will have to try the world doll day ,second purchases, and see if the others agree 🙂
Looking forward to seeing all these newbies strutting their stuff over the coming six months :)xxx

      • It’s never wise to count them 🙂 only makes you think you need to stop! which is really impossible if one is calling your name 🙂
We’ve both had a fabulous year so far and we still have six months to go! Time does fly when you are having fun!:)
Looking forward to seeing more of these newbies over the coming months and any others that just happen to join in :)xxx

      • I think you are so right not to count them….or maybe not to count them but once a year! I am looking forward to our next six months too!!! I will keep my eyes open to see the happenings in the Village and the new arrivals. This is really so much fun to do!! ❤ xxx

  6. Gertie and Mae are tops for me. I love them so much I thought of asking for first refusal if they ever needed to find a new home (only reason I didn’t is that I’m one of those oddities who love to lavish attention on only one Sasha–although having a cousin move in would be so fun…). As to a third, much more difficult. I finally picked Audrey.
Lovely to see all the gorgeousness in one place.

    • Hi Julie! Lovely to hear from you and thank you for sharing your top picks of Gertie and Mae and then Audrey. I think it is very special that you love one Sasha only and I knew one other Sasha collector some time ago on the Sasha Mart that dealy loved her one and only Sasha. Maybe a long lost cousin will come to visit you one day and stay a very long time! ;). Thank you for writing! 🙂 xxx

  7. Hello Ginger,

Sorry that it took me so long to comment. I have been busy and not had enough time to enjoy my blog addiction except in bits and starts. I have some catching up to do with other blog comments too, which I will probably have to stretch out over the week.

All your dolls are so beautiful, I am hard-put to choose just three. They are all so lucky to be part of your wonderful family. I saw a movie once about a GI who married a Japanese woman after WWII, and when they are taking a walk waiting to meet his parents for the first time, she suggests they pick some flowers for his mother.

They stop at a stand of lilies and the woman takes a very long time to pick several flowers that to an untrained eye might be identical. When he asks her about it, she states that each flower has a unique beauty and one must look carefully to find the ones that speak the most to your heart.

That is pretty much my feelings about the Sasha dolls, any doll really. Each has a unique beauty that is all his or her own, but if I am to go with my heart: I think I would choose Gertie, because of her ties to Switzerland, the Studio dolls and Theresa, Ben for his kind face, and the unique position of being a boy studio doll, which I believe are much rarer than girl studio dolls, and Jessie, because her sweet wistful look just tugs at my heart-strings, and there is just something about waifs.

My boys would add Chris, Ebo and Rena, My girls; Audrey, Pearl and Tink , My babies Avania, Johnny and Polly; and they all like Ginny too, and think she is very lucky to be such good friends with a llama. They are asking for a llama of their own.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful dolls and giving us all a chance to rejoice in your good fortune.

    Lots of love.

    The Fern Woods Family

    • Thank you Elisabeth for you lovely, thoughtful comments. I am enjoying the reading of everyone’s top picks and the reasons why they chose them as favorites. Sasha dolls are just wonderful! 🙂

I love your story about the Japanese woman carefully choosing her lillies. I have often thought of the dolls as different flowers in a garden with their sweet faces looking towards the sunshine and all of them together making for a colorful and diverse display that brings beauty to our world and makes us smile. 🙂

I want to thank you and your family at Fern Woods for writing us here at Sasha Shangri-La. ❤ xxx

  8. Hey Ginger, I can see how tough it must be to choose just three. Your Sasha kinder are so different from mine…all except your Audrey who looks a little like my Darielle! I had no idea she was from 1968 so that is a big mystery solved for me. My other favorites of your new adoptees are Marcie and Mae. I was going to nominate Chris but I think he’s such a handsome thing, no doubt he gets a lot of attention already and probably doesn’t need my ego-boosting admiration! Great photos as always. Some of those outfits are so envy-worthy!
Thank-you also for throwing down a challenge! I will be sure and do a post on my blog tomorrow with my favorites.
    Doll hugs,
    Verity-Kate

    • Hello Verity-Kate! It is so nice to hear from you and thank you for taking the challenge! I will check out your blog for sure! I am happy Audrey helped to date your sweet Darielle. Those 68 Sashas are very special!

Chris sends his thanks to you and I think his ego is pretty well in check. He is not getting a lot of attention since Mother’s Day! So maybe Mommy needs to better manage her Sasha time! But, Gracie has had a “fit”and she certainly must be next! She missed out on the 12 month challenge by one month and so she thinks she should have been in the group on this post! I caught her once trying to post to the blog and stopped her plus I changed my password. She will now have to wait or figure out the password. ;). I will make it up to her soon! 🙂 xxx

  9. I have so enjoyed looking at your beautiful new collection Ginger! Wow, you have some truly amazing dolls and I can see why you would have chosen each of them in their own right. Even though I don’t think I’m allowed to pick Gertie as one of my choices I do have to say she touched my heart too and am so glad to have her little twin Edith. So my choice in order would be Audrey, Jessie and Marcie. Love always, Janet xxxx

    • Hi Janet and thank you! You are much too modest to pick Gertie, this
I know! <3. Gertie has touched my heart completely and she sends her love to you and Edith. <3. It is especially nice to read your Sasha picks. Thank you for sharing them! 🙂 xxx

  10. Whitney is at the top for me, then Pearl and Tink. Thank you for sharing pics of all of your wonderful kids. ❤

  11. WOW! What a line up to choose from. Really spoilt for choice. YOU must indeed be the winner of the most NEW Sasha Dolls over the last year!
MY favourites of yours are 1st Gertie, 2nd Marcie, 3rd Henri. (4th Audrey, 5th Heidi, 6th Pearl.)

When I come to finally do my challenge from Sharon I won’t have an actual choice as to which three are my favourite as I only had THREE new dolls in that period of time.

  12. Hi Kendal, thank you for your top picks! It has been a unusual year for me. I have really discovered repaints this past year or so and it has been delightful to find and irresistable to have these OOAK Sashas! 🙂

I look forward to seeing your three new dolls when you are ready post. Have a beautiful day! ❤ xxx
