Amazing Gracie

image

I was thrilled to see a studio bebe outfit made by Thu Cuc Faes and offered on Shelly’s site and that it was such a pretty aqua or turquoise color. Shelly tucked the outfit in Gracie’s box and I am so excited about her arrival that I just couldn’t wait to see her in a pretty color.

image

A nice full length view and you can see her leather sandals that fit perfectly.

A “whoops” photo showing her pants πŸ˜‰

image

Gracie insisted on including sweet Meg in her photos which I am happy to do!

image

I think they are best friends now πŸ™‚

What a happy girl πŸ™‚

Hi everyone!

Hugs everyone! πŸ™‚ xx

I Love Gracie

Image

I have wanted to add a studio bebe to my Sasha family but have not seen any that were available to adopt. Then recently, Shelly listed a beautiful studio bebe and I at first thought that I should wait longer to add a studio bebe. Β Of course, I kept returning to the page over and over again and staring at the sweet little girl. Β I finally decided to not wait and thank goodness she was still for sale πŸ™‚

image

So, yesterday evening when I returned home after work, I had a wonderful Shelly box waiting for me to open. Look, who is it?

image

Oh my, what sweet little feet you have!

image

Wee, wee, it’s me, it’s me, sweet little Gracie πŸ™‚

image

What a beautiful little girl!! She was a bit tired from her journey though she made the trip across the Pond in 7 days–fast πŸ™‚

image

This is the first time that I have held a studio bebe in my hands and I had a lot of questions about her size. So, I carefully removed Gracie’s beautiful dress and undergarments and found a measuring tape. Gracie loved being in the “buff” especially after experiencing the recent confines of her box. She is playing with the tape, so sweet πŸ™‚

image

Mommy, how big am I?

image

Gracie, you are 13 inches tall! I also measured Gracie’s head and it is 9.75 inches around. Her head and arms move well and her legs are sewn to her torso and they are slightly curved. Her gypsum head is wonderfully formed and she has molded eye lids. Her eye and brow painting gives her a delightful, inquisitive expression. Her human hair wig is soft and baby-like.

Gracie made friends quickly with her sweet nature and inquiring personality. This photo of Gracie with baby Meg gives you an idea of her size. Aren’t they cute?

This last photo was taken by Shelly and Gracie looks so sweet that I wanted to share it. I am so very happy that Gracie is here with me and her family at Sasha Shangri-La. Β I love her and I think she loves me too ;). Β Gracie and I wish you a wonderful weekend and send you big hugs too πŸ™‚ xxxx

A Very Happy Mother’s Day

image

I had a lovely Mother’s Day and Quinn with little Morris posed here to show Mom’s cards waiting to be opened. My dear husband told me my gift was a pink dogwood tree and it was waiting outside in the garden to be planted. I was so happy since I have wanted to plant a pink dogwood for several years now. I invisioned it wrapped in burlap and tied up with string. As you can see, it is standing tall in a plastic bucket. I am certain that I am dating myself with a burlap image in my mind πŸ™‚

image

Quinn is standing tall and very excited about planting the tree. Since we had all gathered on Mother’s Day, we decided to make the planting a family event.

image

Look, there is Daddy waving at us to show a perfect site for the little tree.

image

My son, Tyler carried the tree over to where Daddy was standing.

image

Quinn standing by to help with digging.

image

Quinn can see that the hole will have to be pretty big!

image

Daddy plucked up the post hole diggers and started to work.

image

Tyler also helped with the digging.

image

And so did my son Luke. With so many strong arms, digging the hole was very quick! Β Our dog Shelby supervised the entire operation.

image

Quinn was so excited and just had to look in the hole. He said “Wow, that sure is deep! Are there worms in there?”

image

Look Mom, it’s almost deeper than I am tall πŸ™‚

image

Quinn wanted to stay in the hole and play.

image

Daddy finally convinces Quinn to jump from the hole and he plants the tree.

image

Quinn loves the new dogwood tree and so does Mom πŸ™‚

A last photo of Quinn, with Dad working in the background, and we all had a really happy time planting a dogwood tree on Mother’s Day at Sasha Shangri-La πŸ™‚

Fun with Finn at the Stonewall Jackson Dam

I attended a meeting held at the Stonewall Jackson Dam project office in Roanoke, West Virginia. Β It involved a one night stay at the Stonewall Resort nearby.

image

The entrance to the resort which is a wonderful lodge.

image

The lobby has beautiful views of the hills and great rustic furniture.

image

Well, look who came with me—it’s Finn! I brought him on an impulse and I am glad that I did :). I took photos of him in the early morning before work began and the rest of the photos after the meeting ended.

image

This photo shows a bit of the swimming pool and beautiful scenery. I am so happy the weather is warm and sunny!

This window had a screen which affects the clarity of the photo but you can see a bit of the lake. There was a lot of boating and fishing on the lake but the Arnold Palmer golf course was really busy with golfers. They had hiking trails, paddle boats, disc golf course, camp grounds, and other recreational activities available but my trip was short and business focused. I will have to come back sometime for pleasure. They have a spa too πŸ™‚

image

Finn is enjoying the sunshine outside of the project office building after the meeting was over.

image

Finn decided to sit a while and look at the huge Stonewall Jackson Dam. This dam impounds the water that creates all of the water recreation activities on the lake behind it.

image

Finn feels very small next to the dam.

image

Another view of the dam.

image

What a great day for Finn!

image

Finn in a grassy area.

image

Loving this view and there were people fishing just downstream of the dam where the water was releasing.

image

Another view of sweet Finn enjoying the day πŸ™‚

image

Finn is walking back to the office building where the meeting was held.

image

Another view.

image

Finn loved climbing the fisherman’s access stairs both up and down.

image

Finn found a cool rock channel constructed on the side of the hill to manage the water run off.

image

Finn asked me if he could run up and down the rocks and I said “sure, as long as Mom can sit and watch!” πŸ˜‰

image
On the outside if the building, Finn poses under a relief of General Stonewall Jackson on horse.

image

A closer view of the artwork.

image

We went inside and there was a wonderful, educational center that was very kid friendly. Finn loved it!

image

The mural was painted to show a Fall scene of the dam area. The birds and animals on display were either painted or preserved by taxidermy. The birds and animals were found deceased and preserved to help educate people and to increase their appreciation of the outdoors and the creatures that live there. It was a lot to take in but we tried πŸ™‚
image

Finn stopped for a photo by the mural scene.

image

This is a close up of Finn by the “Food Chain” notebook.

image

Finn admiring the beauty of the birds indigenous to the area.

image

Lovely creatures with Finn peeking πŸ˜‰

image

Finn loved this interactive, domed display of the watershed.

image

When you push the button beside a location, the area lights up where you will find it. Β You could see the lodge location as compared to the office location. Really neat!

image

A closer view of the watershed display that shows the topographic relief and how the water flows.

Finn loved the fish display too. The cubes are seats when schools or groups visit and receive a tour.

image

image

When the button is pushed by the fish name, it lights up the picture of that fish.

image

Closer view.

image

Finn loved the aquarium best of all. This blue gill was very friendly and came over to Finn immediatly to say hello.

image

The sweet fish really liked Finn.

image

In fact, this sweet blue gill could also be called a kissing fish. He gave Finn a big kiss and Finn is now a fish lover too πŸ˜‰

image

My co-worker kindly took this photo before we left to go home. I had a great time and so did Finn! We both wish you a Happy Mother’s Day weekend! Β  πŸ™‚

Faith in April Showers

image

Today is a wonderful, beautiful day! It is much warmer, we are having April showers, and the sun is fighting the rain to create small windows of time allowing me to take photos outdoors at Sasha Shangri-La. Β Faith is a favorite of mine. She is an English production girl made in 1968. She has a single row of fringe and very beautiful, hand painted eyes.

image

Faith put on her cheery Cath Kidston poncho with hood, her wellies and her bright yellow umbrella outdoors to enjoy the day. I took several photos of Faith from different angles and with her hood up and down. She is venturing out on our hillside.

Another photo showing her wellies that she loves wearing on wet days.

image

You can see the flowers that have fallen from the redbud tree.

image

A nice photo showing her umbrella.

image

It felt so good to be outside today to take photos. Apple blossoms have also fallen nearby. The air feels so clean and crisp on our faces.

image

Close up photo of Faith.

image

This photo shows the back of Faith’s poncho with its Cath Kidston label. The poncho is also nicely tagged on the inside “Just for Sasha by Christina Meatyard”. I was so fortunate to find this on Shelly’s site. I love this fabric and the creation by Christina. So very well done!

image

A final photo taken this lovely day. I would like to dedicate this post to my dear Mother who passed away ten years ago today. Thankfully, I feel very close to Mother which continues to bless and encourage me :). A last happy thought to share with you is that Faith and I are sending you big hugs and well wishes for a beautiful weekend. πŸ™‚
