Whitney is Happy to Model Her New Outfit

Image

Whitney is a happy girl wearing her awesome new oufit made by Sarah Williams of Vintage Sasha. πŸ™‚

image
Whitney was rerooted by Sarah and then Sarah patiently gave her 150+ braids! I love her hair and I love her new dress! Β Whitney wanted you to see her fun zebra figure. πŸ™‚

Whitney is wearing black leather shoes made by JJ. I like the black shoes with this dress and I thought about trying a turquoise pair but the black color seem to work better. πŸ™‚

A final photo of sweet Whitney. I was fortunate to buy one other outfit from Sarah and it is here waiting on a new Sasha arrival from the UK. Β  It won’t be long now! Β I hope you enjoyed this short post. Thank you for visiting us at Sasha Shangri-La. πŸ™‚ xxx

Gwennie Redressed and Gwennie Greets Gigi

Image

image

I hope most of you remember Gwennie from previous posts on the Sasha Shangri-La blog. I recently was lucky to find a few pieces of vintage clothing on ebay plus a couple of pieces on Shelly’s Sasha doll UK site. I thought the ebay clothing might fit a studio or course doll and I had dear Gwennie in mind. πŸ™‚

Gwennie came to me wearing this untagged sage green dress and pants that fit her nicely but they were faded and a bit worn. Still, I thought the outfit was appropriate for Gwennie who has her own signs of wear so Β I kept her in the outfit for years now only adding a green duffle coat a few years ago.

image
Here she is! The white blouse is from Shelly’s site. The darling plaid skirt is from ebay. It fits her perfectly, even the snap at the waist is just right. πŸ™‚

image
Gwennie is looking happier I think! πŸ˜‰

image

She is probably thinking…”About time Mummy!” πŸ˜‰

Gwennie a bit closer. ❀

Gwennie’s legs but who is this????

image
Gwennie would like you to meet her sweet sister Gigi.  Gigi was one nickname that I had as a child. ❀

Gwennie gave her Steiff boar to Gigi to hug and feel loved. ❀

image
Gigi joined the family last year and is only now overcoming her shyness and sensitivities to daylight and be able to say hello to you today. Gwennie has been by her side all of this time and has helped Gigi adjust to life here at Sasha Shangri-La. Prior to joining us, Gigi was stored for many years since the early 1970’s when she was bought in a large grouping of dolls and put away. Β Now, Gwennie is her sister and best friend! ❀

image
Both girls are BIII studio dolls with gypsum heads. πŸ™‚

image
Gigi’s outfit was made by the talented Thu Cuc Faes. Gigi came to me only wearing a shirt and I dressed her in this outfit for Spring and summer. Her leather shoes are vintage and I found them on Shelly’s site. πŸ™‚

image
Gigi wore the nice plaid flannel dress last Fall and over the winter. It was made by Christine Meatyard. πŸ™‚

Gwennie slipped on the blue wool felt jacket that came with her skirt from ebay. What a nice set. πŸ™‚

Both girls look happy together. πŸ™‚

A nice pair there! πŸ™‚

image
Gwennie’s duffle coat fits perfectly over her blue jacket. That will be nice when winter comes around. πŸ™‚

Dear Gwennie. ❀

Both girls again.

Gwennie and Gigi are sending your hugs and happy wishes for the week to come. We thought we would end this post with a few watercolors of the “G” sisters.

Water, Water, and More Water, Water, Water…

Image

We are experiencing extraordinary rainfall in July. Β It has rained every day and many days we have had major downpours along with the expected thunder and lightening. I am reminded of the old saying “Rain, rain go away…come again some other day!” Since I am not able to take photos outdoors, I have been playing with a new computer application that transforms a photograph into a work of artistic expression. Specifically, this program creates a “water” color expression of a photo and I have to say that this “water” medium is most appropriate at this time and it is also a wink and a nod towards our dreary weather. πŸ˜‰ So, making the best of a bad weather situation,Β I hope you have a substantial sized cup of tea and/or coffee to sipΒ while you sit back, relax and viewΒ this substantial sized post.Β  I hope you enjoyΒ these Sasha Shangri-La watercolor masterpieces. πŸ˜‰ image Abby, an A1 early studio girl. ❀ image Amber, 1966 Gotz girl. ❀ image Sylvia, 1966 NP girl. ❀ image Heidi, Janet Myhill-Dabbs repaint, 1970’s Trendon girl. ❀ image Finn, 1967 NP boy. ❀ image Tink, Kelly Wenarsky repaint. ❀ image Gwennie, BIII studio girl. ❀ image Ryder, 1960’s Gotz straight nose boy. ❀ image Zoey, 1967 NP girl. ❀ image Claudia, 1968 Dungarees girl. ❀ image Smootch, Janet Myhill-Dabbs studio doll rendition. ❀ image Joy, 1966 NP girl. ❀ image Ellie and Betsy, 2001 Gotz toddlers (Ionas). ❀ ❀ image Drew, 1968 Trendon boy. ❀ image Briana, 1965 Gotz girl. ❀ image Gracie, studio bebe and Marie, BIII studio girl. ❀ image Jessie, 1967 NP girl. ❀ image Mae, 1966 Gotz girl. ❀ image Faith, 1968 fringe girl. ❀ image Emily, Trendon factory anomaly, blue eyed brunette. ❀ image Hazel, Gotz no navel girl. ❀ image Whitney, a glorious reroot with braiding by Sarah Willams. ❀ image Peg, Gotz no nose. ❀ image Jackie, 1970’s wide face gingham girl. ❀ image Course dolls with bebe Gracie. ❀ image Fozzie Bear with Lucy, Cassie Rogers repaint, Emma Flood reroot. ❀ image Kim, factory anomaly, a Gregor with lashes. ❀ image Trendon. ❀ image Rena, Gotz Yamka. ❀ image Adeline, 1967 NP girl. ❀ image Val, 1968 waif Trendon girl. ❀ image Brett, 1969 Trendon boy. ❀ image Casey, 1969 Dungarees girl. ❀ image Ebo, Shelly Baxter repaint. ❀ image Tilly, 1967 NP girl. ❀ image Fara, 1968 fringe girl. ❀ image Claire, BIII studio girl. ❀ image Chris, 1968 shorts boy. ❀ image Sarah, 1970 Gotz no navel girl. ❀ image Ellen, 1966-67 NP girl. ❀ image Avania, Kelly Wenarsky repainted baby. ❀ image Quinn, 1968 shorts boy. ❀ image Diana, 1965/66 Gotz girl. ❀ image Gertie, Janet Myhill-Dabbs repaint. ❀ image Gracie, studio bebe. ❀ image Mike, 1970’s Trendon boy. ❀ image Marcie, 1970 Gotz no navel. ❀ image Johhny, 2001 Gotz toddler (Erik) ❀ image Polly, Nikki repaint. ❀ image Chloe, 1966 NP girl. ❀ image Lewis, 1968 Trendon boy. ❀ image Duncan Hans, factory anomaly, blue eyed brunette boy. ❀ image Carney, 1966 NP girl. ❀ image Ben, BII studio boy. ❀ image Gertie again, Janet Myhill-Dabbs repaint. ❀ image Joey, 1970 PJ boy. ❀ image Briana again, 1965 Gotz girl. ❀ image Ryder again, Gotz straight nose boy. ❀ image Carney again, 1966 NP girl. ❀ image Max, Cassie Rogers repaint. ❀ image Nancy, 1980’s Shelly Baxter repaint. ❀ image Pearl, 1966 NP girl. ❀ image Tassie and Sammie, Cassie Rogers repaints. ❀ ❀ image A Sasha Gathering. ❀ image Little Dawn, 1960’s Gotz girl. ❀ image A peek at Gigi, a BIII studio girl soon to be introduced. ❀ image Kate, Janet Myhill-Dabbs studio rendition. ❀ image Ginny with llama, 1970’s gingham girl. ❀ image Finn and Chloe again. image Audrey, 1968 wide face girl. ❀ image Felix (Cassie’s NP boy) and Finn. image Jean, 1970’s bobbed hair girl. ❀ image Gertie again. ❀ image Pearl waving goodbye and sending lovely wishes for the week to come. Briana

Every day has been rainy lately but I took a few photos in between drops yesterday. Briana is a new addition to the Sasha Shangri-La family. πŸ™‚

image
Briana is a yellow eyed Gotz girl with dainty lashes and was made in 1965.  She is wearing an original Gotz outfit. ❀

The rain came and back indoors we went! 😦

Briana’s hair is very soft and silky. πŸ™‚

Happy Birthday Mom! —- Gertie Revisited

Image

image
Today was my mother’s birthday and although she passed away in 2004, I think of her every day and especially on important days like birthdays. πŸ™‚

My Mother gave me critical and important lessons in abundance. I think now of the great love she had for her family and the many lessons of character-building importance that she gave me over my formulative years. Some were delightful to receive and some were painful to receive but I have to say that all were necessary and important lessons for me. Thank you Mom! ❀

One hobby that my mother embraced was collecting dolls and she loved her dolls! Her doll collecting really “took off” after she retired from working at Union Carbide for nearly 40 years. When ebay first began, we would get on her computer together and look at dolls and dream and sometimes buy one. This is such a fond memory for me today. πŸ™‚

I learned about Sasha dolls after Mom passed and I am certain she would be thrilled to know that I am a doll collector today and that the love of dolls, which she instilled in me, is still there–alive and well. Thank you Mom! ❀

In honor of my Mom, I am posting photos of the beautiful Gertie wearing two different outfits and both were made by Helena of Dolliepatch. I hope you enjoy this post of Gertie revisted. πŸ™‚

image
Gertie’s dress by Dolliepatch is made of silk and her leather shoes are by Sashapotamus. πŸ™‚

image
Most of you remember that Gertie was lovingly repainted by the talented artist, Janet Myhill-Dabbs. ❀

A peek at the pretty undergarments. πŸ˜‰

A closer view for you to see. πŸ™‚

image
I was so fond of this style of dress for Gertie that I thought to buy a lighter, more summery version of a studio dress from Dolliepatch. πŸ™‚

image
Gertie wearing her new dress. Her leather slip on shoes were made by Janet and were on another doll that my dear husband, upon a close inspection of the new repainted dolls, affectionally named “Smootch”. So, our sweet Smootch loaned her shoes to Gertie. πŸ™‚

image
Gertie up close. Notice the pretty tatted or crocheted collar. It is detachable and buttons in the back. πŸ™‚

image
It rained so much over the weekend that these photos were taken indoors by necessity and so are not nearly as clear.  Please excuse the strays hairs. 😦

A different view of Gertie. πŸ™‚

Gertie sends her love to her sister, Edith. ❀

This photo is very special because one of the gifts my Mom gave to me was the love of reading. We come from a very long line of avid readers. Little Women is one of my favorite all-time books! Gertie loves to read and to be read to by me. πŸ™‚

image
A tiny peek at the undergarments. πŸ˜‰ Β  They are a beautiful pale aqua color. πŸ™‚

Gertie reminded me that we took photos of when her gift arrived from Janet and Edith. So, here are the photos! πŸ™‚
