We are experiencing extraordinary rainfall in July. It has rained every day and many days we have had major downpours along with the expected thunder and lightening. I am reminded of the old saying “Rain, rain go away…come again some other day!” Since I am not able to take photos outdoors, I have been playing with a new computer application that transforms a photograph into a work of artistic expression. Specifically, this program creates a “water” color expression of a photo and I have to say that this “water” medium is most appropriate at this time and it is also a wink and a nod towards our dreary weather. 😉 So, making the best of a bad weather situation, I hope you have a substantial sized cup of tea and/or coffee to sip while you sit back, relax and view this substantial sized post. I hope you enjoy these Sasha Shangri-La watercolor masterpieces. 😉

Briana
Image

Every day has been rainy lately but I took a few photos in between drops yesterday. Briana is a new addition to the Sasha Shangri-La family. 🙂

Briana is a yellow eyed Gotz girl with dainty lashes and was made in 1965. She is wearing an original Gotz outfit. ❤

The rain came and back indoors we went! 😦

Briana’s hair is very soft and silky. 🙂

A close up photo of pretty Briana. ❤

Thank you for visiting Sasha Shangri-La. Briana and I are sending you hugs and wishing you all a beautiful week to come. 🙂 xxx
Happy Birthday Mom! —- Gertie Revisited
Image

Today was my mother’s birthday and although she passed away in 2004, I think of her every day and especially on important days like birthdays. 🙂
My Mother gave me critical and important lessons in abundance. I think now of the great love she had for her family and the many lessons of character-building importance that she gave me over my formulative years. Some were delightful to receive and some were painful to receive but I have to say that all were necessary and important lessons for me. Thank you Mom! ❤
One hobby that my mother embraced was collecting dolls and she loved her dolls! Her doll collecting really “took off” after she retired from working at Union Carbide for nearly 40 years. When ebay first began, we would get on her computer together and look at dolls and dream and sometimes buy one. This is such a fond memory for me today. 🙂
I learned about Sasha dolls after Mom passed and I am certain she would be thrilled to know that I am a doll collector today and that the love of dolls, which she instilled in me, is still there–alive and well. Thank you Mom! ❤
In honor of my Mom, I am posting photos of the beautiful Gertie wearing two different outfits and both were made by Helena of Dolliepatch. I hope you enjoy this post of Gertie revisted. 🙂

Gertie’s dress by Dolliepatch is made of silk and her leather shoes are by Sashapotamus. 🙂

Most of you remember that Gertie was lovingly repainted by the talented artist, Janet Myhill-Dabbs. ❤

A peek at the pretty undergarments. 😉

A closer view for you to see. 🙂

I was so fond of this style of dress for Gertie that I thought to buy a lighter, more summery version of a studio dress from Dolliepatch. 🙂

Gertie wearing her new dress. Her leather slip on shoes were made by Janet and were on another doll that my dear husband, upon a close inspection of the new repainted dolls, affectionally named “Smootch”. So, our sweet Smootch loaned her shoes to Gertie. 🙂

Gertie up close. Notice the pretty tatted or crocheted collar. It is detachable and buttons in the back. 🙂

It rained so much over the weekend that these photos were taken indoors by necessity and so are not nearly as clear. Please excuse the strays hairs. 😦

Gertie holding her precious baby given to her by her twin sister Edith who lives with Janet. ❤

Gertie sends her love to her sister, Edith. ❤

This photo is very special because one of the gifts my Mom gave to me was the love of reading. We come from a very long line of avid readers. Little Women is one of my favorite all-time books! Gertie loves to read and to be read to by me. 🙂

A tiny peek at the undergarments. 😉 They are a beautiful pale aqua color. 🙂

Gertie reminded me that we took photos of when her gift arrived from Janet and Edith. So, here are the photos! 🙂

Edith and Janet wrapped the gift with love. ❤

A baby, oh thank you Edith and Janet! ❤

A wave goodbye to you all on this lovely July 6th day. Have a beautiful and a peaceful week to come. ❤ xxx
My Boy Max
Image

When I left California, I left a blonde Gregor in the very talented hands of Cassie Rogers. The boy would be cleaned, repainted and hair dyed. Plus, Cassie perfectly outfitted him. Please meet the very handsome, green eyed, freckle faced Max. 🙂

Max’s wrist tag with Cassie’s initials and his re-birth date. ❤

Another full length photo of Max. 🙂

Cassie dressed Max wonderfully with green t-shirt, distressed jeans, and brown leather boy boots. He has a hat too that is shown in other photos. I absolutely love Max and his outfit!

Nice stitching and maker’s tag.

Max is an outdoors boy and he is having fun with Dad’s new fishing boat.

Max is so excited to see the boat’s motor. 🙂

Max waves to his new family. He is a very happy boy! 🙂

Max said he thinks this motor is really big!

What a great day! Max likes his hat very much, thank you Auntie Cassie! 🙂

One day soon there will be a fishing pole in each white tube. Max wants to learn to fish too!

Little boys just love to be behind the wheel. 🙂

Max by the motor. Dad will be placing the seat on the pole soon. He wanted to give it a good cleaning first. 🙂

Max and I are sending hugs to you and we hope you enjoyed this post. We thank you for visiting us here at Sasha Shangri-La and please accept our wishes for you to have a beautiful weekend. 🙂 xxx
Ra Ra for Gracie and No Ra Ra for Ellie
Image

Hi everyone, my name is Gracie! I have missed writing on the blog lately and Mummy changed her password. So, I am writing today with Mummy’s blessing to share with you some of the new outfits we received here at Sasha Shangri-La that were made by the very talented Sharon Humphreys. I am wearing my first ever ra-ra outfit and I love it! 🙂

Do you like my dotted socks? They are so soft and fit me perfectly.

Mummy asked Auntie Sharon to make two toddler outfits for girls and one for a boy. When the outfits arrived, I just knew that one of them was for me, Gracie! 🙂

Here is a full view of my new pretty outfit!

Yummy cupcakes!!! I wish I had a real cupcake. These are super nice especially since they cannot be eaten and so, will always be there. 😉

Oh no, it is my sweet sister, Ellie. She is crying because she does not have a ra-ra outfit to wear. She said that Betsy and Johnny put their new outfits on and there was no outfit left for her to wear. 😦

I feel so bad and I tell Ellie that she can have my ra-ra outfit. Dear, sweet Ellie told me that she loves me so very much that she could not wear my ra-ra outfit because she knows how much I love it. So, I remember another new outfit that did not fit me and I ask dear Ellie if she would like to try it on. 🙂

Ellie is very shy but she said she would like to see it. 🙂

See Ellie, here are the pretty white tights and look at this pretty dress that is just your size. 🙂

Look Ellie, I think these new shoes are perfect for your new dress and tights. 🙂

Ellie, look at the dress tag, it says it was made with love by the Doll Works. I think it is very special to have a dress that was made with love. ❤

Ellie is so excited. She said “Look, the tights and shoes fit me perfectly.” 🙂

“I sure hope the dress fits me too!” Ellie shared.

I told Ellie that the dress fits perfectly and she looks pretty! 🙂

Ellie shares that she loves her new outfit even though it is not a ra-ra outfit. ❤

Ellie and I are happy sisters and we are now going to join our sister Betsy and brother Johnny oudoors. 🙂

Well, here we are outdoors and sitting on Dad’s new fishing boat. It was his birthday present and he is so happy! 🙂

It is so nice to be together and be outdoors on a beautiful day.

Don’t I look pretty in my new outfit?

Johnny is waving hello. He loves his outfit that Sharon has made just for him. What a darling little doggie and the pants fit him perfectly. Mummy said she loved the little elastic in the waistline which helped to fit him better. 🙂

Johnny wanted to show you all his new socks too. They match his shirt and he loves them very much. ❤

Look at sweet Betsy sitting up high and wearing her new ra-ra outfit. What a pretty green skirt and top with a bee hive, flower, a butterfly and a bow too! Betsy says she loves her socks too. I think we all love Auntie Sharon’s socks and outfits very much indeed! Thank you Auntie Sharon! 🙂

A photo of just us girls. Johnny did not mind at all, he would rather be fishing with Dad! 😉

We are waving to you all. Oh what a happy day for us toddlers at Sasha Shangri-La! 🙂

We are sending big hugs to you and we thank you for visiting us. We hope you have a wonderful week to come! 🙂 xxx

p.s. It’s me Gracie and I wanted to send extra big hugs to you all and I want to say that I am just so very happy to live here with my brothers and sisters and we all love each other very much. We all especially love Mummy and Daddy. Oh happy days!
