Gertie Greets Gus

Gertie and I went outdoors to take photos of her in her Dolliepatch outfit since the earlier photos were all taken indoors due to the heavy and long-lasting rains. Gertie especially wanted to go outdoors to introduce her new brother Angus or “Gus”. 🙂

First, a few photos of Gertie to enjoy. Notice her pale aqua under slip. 🙂

Gertie is so happy to introduce her new brother Gus. Gus was lovingly repainted and wonderfully outfitted by Janet Myhill-Dabbs. ❤

Pretty Pearl Poses

A brief post of the lovely Pearl, a 1966 Trendon girl with brown eyes and red hair. 🙂

Pearl is wearing a sweet sundress with matching pants made by Ruthsdolls. Her white leather sandals were made by Jean Jensen. She is holding her soft teddy. 🙂

The under blouse was made by JoAnn Staricha. Pearl is happy to be outdoors in the warm sunshine. The rain finally let up and allowed us to go outdoors. 🙂

Whitney is Happy to Model Her New Outfit

Whitney is a happy girl wearing her awesome new oufit made by Sarah Williams of Vintage Sasha. 🙂

Whitney was rerooted by Sarah and then Sarah patiently gave her 150+ braids! I love her hair and I love her new dress! Whitney wanted you to see her fun zebra figure. 🙂

Whitney is wearing black leather shoes made by JJ. I like the black shoes with this dress and I thought about trying a turquoise pair but the black color seem to work better. 🙂

Gwennie Redressed and Gwennie Greets Gigi

I hope most of you remember Gwennie from previous posts on the Sasha Shangri-La blog. I recently was lucky to find a few pieces of vintage clothing on ebay plus a couple of pieces on Shelly’s Sasha doll UK site. I thought the ebay clothing might fit a studio or course doll and I had dear Gwennie in mind. 🙂

Gwennie came to me wearing this untagged sage green dress and pants that fit her nicely but they were faded and a bit worn. Still, I thought the outfit was appropriate for Gwennie who has her own signs of wear so I kept her in the outfit for years now only adding a green duffle coat a few years ago.

Here she is! The white blouse is from Shelly’s site. The darling plaid skirt is from ebay. It fits her perfectly, even the snap at the waist is just right. 🙂

Gwennie’s legs but who is this????

Gwennie would like you to meet her sweet sister Gigi. Gigi was one nickname that I had as a child. ❤

Gwennie gave her Steiff boar to Gigi to hug and feel loved. ❤

Gigi joined the family last year and is only now overcoming her shyness and sensitivities to daylight and be able to say hello to you today. Gwennie has been by her side all of this time and has helped Gigi adjust to life here at Sasha Shangri-La. Prior to joining us, Gigi was stored for many years since the early 1970’s when she was bought in a large grouping of dolls and put away. Now, Gwennie is her sister and best friend! ❤

Both girls are BIII studio dolls with gypsum heads. 🙂

Gigi’s outfit was made by the talented Thu Cuc Faes. Gigi came to me only wearing a shirt and I dressed her in this outfit for Spring and summer. Her leather shoes are vintage and I found them on Shelly’s site. 🙂

Gigi wore the nice plaid flannel dress last Fall and over the winter. It was made by Christine Meatyard. 🙂

Water, Water, and More Water, Water, Water…

We are experiencing extraordinary rainfall in July. It has rained every day and many days we have had major downpours along with the expected thunder and lightening. I am reminded of the old saying “Rain, rain go away…come again some other day!” Since I am not able to take photos outdoors, I have been playing with a new computer application that transforms a photograph into a work of artistic expression. Specifically, this program creates a “water” color expression of a photo and I have to say that this “water” medium is most appropriate at this time and it is also a wink and a nod towards our dreary weather. 😉 So, making the best of a bad weather situation, I hope you have a substantial sized cup of tea and/or coffee to sip while you sit back, relax and view this substantial sized post.
