About mountainmullins

Sasha doll collector primarily plus other interesting dolls. I inheirited my love of dolls from my dear Mother and also her collection. My first Sasha doll was Gwennie, a redheaded studio doll. Since Gwennie, I have collected other Sasha dolls and love their individual personalities created by their eye painting, hair color and styling, and dressing them. It is such fun to share with other collectors!

1966 “Reds” — A Very Happy Birthday

Image

A very quick post today because it is my birthday and I am posting before we go to dinner!   A most wonderful present from my husband and sons was this ochre eyed, German made, Gotz girl with beautiful red hair. She arrived earlier this week and I put this knitted hat on her for a day to tame her pretty fringe 🙂

image

She came wearing her original dress and pant and white leather shoes. She belonged to a lovely lady and she had been her childhood doll and wonderfully cared for since the 1960’s!  So I am her second owner and, to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time that I have adopted a childhood doll directly from the first owner.  Since I did not have a Sasha doll as a child, it is very special to be owner number two. 🙂

image
I was thrilled to adopt this yellow-eyed beauty and expectedly named her Amber. 🙂

image
Today, I redressed Amber and stored her original outfit safely away. A pretty floral dress, warm cardi, knitted socks and JJ leather shoes and Amber is starting to feel at home here at Sasha Shangri-La. 🙂  A huggable bunny is always nice to have in a new place.

image

Even better is to have a warm and loving welcome from your new sisters.  Also made in 1966 and also with pretty red hair, Sylvia on the left and Joy on the right surround Amber with happy sisterly greetings. ❤

The lovely Sylvia with brown eyes and made during the English production in 1966.

The lovely Joy with blue eyes and made during the English production in 1966.

image
Three lovely “reds” with different eye colors and I have to say that 1966 was a very good year! ❤

Amber taking-in her new surroundings in stride. 😉

A last photo of Amber and she sends you big hugs and very happy wishes for a great week to come! 🙂 xxx

Gracie’s Gifts

Image

image
Hi there everyone, it’s me again, Gracie! Mummy went to the kitchen and I just had to tell you the very best of news!   I, Gracie, have just received my very first post in the mail. It’s a big box!  Oh joy! 🙂

image
Oh my, what do think is inside? It is a wonderful surprise! 🙂

image
Oh, how lovely, a card with my name, Gracie, written on it. Mummy read it to me and the box was sent by my loving Godmother, Norvell Jones. Auntie Norvell put two wrapped packages inside the box. How exciting, I want to dance around the room!

image
The first package has a pretty yellow ribbon tied in a bow.  Can’t wait to see inside!!!!

image
Oh my, it is a beautiful pale, yellow corduroy dress! I love it! ❤

image
Mummy showed me the wonderful smocking and she said that I would have to wait but would be able to try it on very soon. But, I do not want to wait!!! 😦

image
After Mummy stepped away, I found the pretty yellow ribbon!

image
I love ribbons, don’t you? ❤

image
I really want to wear this pretty dress……Mummy said soon but it is so hard to wait……. 😦

image
Lookie, I think it will look pretty on me, don’t you?  I do think I can try it on by myself, don’t you?

image
Auntie Norvell’s tag is sewn in the dress seam. :). It is sooooo hard to wait on Mummy…. 😦

image
Well, I just had to try on my new dress. Isn’t it lovely? This is the first yellow dress I have owned and it is so soft and it is so warm! 🙂

image
I love my new dress!  It fits me perfectly. ❤

image
I thought I heard Mummy coming but she is still in the kitchen, whew….. 🙂

image
My big sister Claire just gave me this precious little teddy bear made by Ted Menten. Ted gifted the bear to Claire when he made a beautiful white studio dress for her a few years ago. Claire said the teddy is perfect next to my new dress!  I think the teddy is perfect for me.  Today is such a special day and it just keeps on getting better! 🙂

image
I think I will sit and rest a bit….but I want to open the second package very much. 🙂

image
Since Mummy is still away, I wanted to look at the second package. Inside is a beautiful pink dress made by Auntie Norvell. I have worn this dress once before and she wanted to make some alterations. So, I am so happy to have this pink dress back. 🙂

image
A lovely printed fabric.   Why is Mummy spending so much time in the kitchen? I do not like waiting…… 😦

image
Well, i just could not wait on Mummy. I love my pretty pink dress too! ❤

image
I pushed my hair back with this sparkly, pink bug clip. Isn’t it just divine??? 🙂

image
I think that pink is such a pretty color!

image
I hope that Mummy will not be cross with me. In a way, I am helping her by learning to dress myself and to style my hair. I am a big girl now and not a baby anymore. I want to help my Mummy. I love her with all my heart. ❤

image
Teddy just looks great with my pink dress too!  He is very soft and cuddly. 🙂

image
I think I will sit down and think about how very special today has been for me, Gracie.  I think that I am the luckiest little girl in the whole wide world!!! 🙂

I think I hear Mummy coming up the stairs. I am going to sit very still and look at her very sweetly and tell her that I love her. I hope she will understand why I could not wait for her to dress me.  I hope she thinks that I look pretty in my dress!

Auntie Norvell, thank you so very much for my dresses. I love them both very, very much!

Oh, Mummy is here now…..

image
Well…..everything is just fine here at Sasha Shangri-La. Mummy did gently remind me how important it is to mind what Mummy says to do and that it is for my own good. She told me that I might get hurt by taking risky steps while she is away.  I told Mummy that I would try very hard to be a good girl! 🙂

She picked me up and kissed me on my head. She carefully removed the sparkly bug clip and replaced it with a soft, pink satin ribbon saying that it would be much gentler on my precious Gracie head. She rejoined me with my sisters Adeline and Chloe and with my brother, Bennie, who is always close by and also my big sister, Marie, giving me a comforting touch to the shoulder.  They all said that they missed me!  I feel so very happy today and I feel so excited down in my tummy, like butterflies, because I am so loved in my Sasha family. ❤

I, Gracie, am waving goodbye, wishing you a great week to come, and sending you great big Gracie hugs! 🙂 xxx

My Girls

Image

image
Adeline is wearing a new dress from Shelly’s site that serves as a great pinafore over her Ruthsdolls pink corduroy dress. I love the pretty pink and purple print which came with a nice matching hair tie and pants. The maker is unknown.  Tilly is also wearing a pretty floral dress by an unknown maker and from Shelly’s site. Tilly wears her colorful cardi by Mary Anne Getchell. Both girls are wearing brightly colored, leather Mary Jane shoes by Jean Jensen.

You may notice in the background our beautiful rottie, Shelby. She loves to be there, right in the mix of things, when I take the Sashas outdoors. ❤

image
We brought a quilt with us to soften the ground.

image
Adeline. ❤

image
A closer view of Adeline’s dress fabric reveals butterflies, her favorite. 🙂

image
It was a beautiful Fall day to take the photos.

image
Tilly loves her new outfit.  Her great socks were found on Shelly’s site and were made by Dollies4u.

image
A closer view of Tilly. 🙂

image
Adeline and Tilly send their hugs to you and wish everyone a wonderful week to come. They also send their well wishes to those traveling to Dee’s Chat n Snap this weekend. Have a great time everyone! 🙂 xxx

Greetings from the Boys at Sasha Shangri-La

Image

image
Hello and happy greetings from the Sasha Shangri-La boys! At least most of the English boys and not including this time Ben, the sole studio boy, Heiri, a course boy, Rusty another course boy, and Ryder a Gotz boy. Sweet Gracie loves the boys too and is sitting with them for their first photo of this post. ❤

image
The boys from left to right are Ebo, Quinn, and Jimmy.  They each have their pups tucked in arm. 🙂

image
Next we have a partial view of Jimmy and then Drew, Finn and Lewis.

image
Max, Joey and Brett are next in the line-up.

image
Last in this row is Bob, Duncan Hans, and a boy named Paul by his previous owner.

It was a bit challenging to get these lads all in a row and they are snuggly packed in line.  I was successful to capture them all in one photo.

Wait, the sun came out and so we will all go outdoors for photos. How do you easily take twelve boys and their dogs outdoors??? Well, here was my solution this time. 🙂

image
The boys were carried out in a laundry basket and wrapped in a blanket and in one trip! 🙂

image
Wonderful boys lined up and in a different order than the indoor photo. It is cooler and the boys are wearing their sweaters except for Finn who wanted to try on a newly found Elliott shirt by A Passion for Sasha. 🙂

image
Happy boys to be outdoors. 🙂

image
Duncan Hans wears a colorful sweater knitted by Diane Duke. I was so happy to meet Diane at the Festival in Phoenix and was able to add a few of her wonderful creations to the Sasha wardrobe. 🙂

image
This is Joey a petite 1970’s blonde boy. He wears a great pullover top made by Millie Dingham. I love the smocked insert with a dinosaur stitched inside.  He is happily munching on leaves. 🙂  Joey’s leather boots are by Ruthsdolls.

image
Next is Drew, a 1968 brunette boy with NP eyes. He wears a wonderful sweater made by Diane Duke.  His weathered boots were made by Lisa in the UK.

image
This is Jimmy, a sweet natured, 1968 brunette boy adopted from Ellen Church. Ellen included his original denim outfit with Jimmy and also this handsome shirt, and brown cord pants. I found the cardi on Shelly’s site.

image
Next is Quinn, a shorts boy found on Shelly’s site. Quinn originally was owned by Ronnie making him extra special. 🙂  Quinn’s sweater is very colorful and was also made by Diane. It fits perfectly and Quinn loves it. ❤   His cargo pants are by Gotz and his leather boots were made by Jean Jensen.

image

The boys were so thoughtful to stand still for the many photos. 😉

image
This is the most handsome Ebo that is a Shelly repaint of an earlier Caleb. He wears a great sweater and pants made by Joan Wilson and leather boots by Jean Jensen.  Please excuse the fuzzies I just noticed on his face. I think it was from the blanket used to protect the boys while in transit.

image
This is Finn, our only NP boy here at Sasha Shangri-La.  Finn is all boy and we love him very much!   He holds his pup Fetch. Finn wear an Elliot top and his red leather boots were made by Jean Jensen.

image
Next is Lewis that was adopted from Susanna Lewis earlier this year. Lewis came in his original box, outfit, and tags. He is a 1968 brunette boy with smaller eyes. His outfit was made by Betsy May. 🙂

image
Another brunette boy that has his own look is Max, an ebay find. He is from the 1970’s and has great non-falling hair. I do not know the maker of his outfit but I think he looks very smart in it 🙂

image
The last grouping of the boys.

image
Brett is a 1969 boy with mottled blue eyes. I have grown very fond of him and he is wearing a lovely sweater made by Lorraine Tyler with matching socks that you cannot see but Brett is glad they are in place. His boots are by Ruthsdolls.

image
A last photo of the merry band of boys enjoying the outdoors on the farm. They are sending you all their big boy hugs and also their well wishes for the week to come! 🙂 xxx

Toddle Time for Toddlers

Image

image
Hi! My name is Betsy. I live here at Sasha Shangri-La with my loving brother and sisters though I have been the only toddler.  My sister, Gracie, acts like a toddler but Mummy said she really is a bebe with a toddler heart. ❤

image
I love Gracie so much. She holds my hand to show me she cares and she is a wonderful sister. ❤

image
Gracie is wearing a beautiful, new dress and shoes, socks, and hat made by Thu Cuc Faes who lives in Switzerland.

image
Gracie’s dress is blue like mine! I really like the red ladybug button on the front. I have butterflys on my dress. 🙂

image
Gracie, I love you! ❤

image
Gracie’s lovely outfit.

Betsy, Gotz Toddler

Mummy took this photo of me when I first arrived at Sasha Shangri-La. As much as I love everyone here, I have secretly, in my heart, dreamed of having a sister like me to play with and to love. ❤

Drum roll please….

image
Well, dreams do come true and please meet my sweet sister, Ellie. 🙂

image
Ellie is almost my twin. Mummy said we were both named Iona at one time. I feel like Ellie is my twin sister. ❤

image
Mummy shared that Ellie was made in 2001 in Germany at the Gotz doll factory just like me!  She came to Sasha Shangri-La in her original outfit and tube which are safely stored.

image
Ellie has been redressed by Mummy in an pretty outfit found on Shelly’s site. Her leather shoes were made by Jean Jensen. You might be able to see the faint JJ marks on the soles of her shoes.

image
A pretty gingham ribbon seems to work well with Ellie’s head of beautiful curls.

image
Ellie toddling and on the move.

image
Ellie. ❤

image
I gave Ellie a tiny puppy to hug. 🙂

image
Gracie welcomes Ellie.  Gracie shares with Ellie that she is a toddler too just like Ellie and like me!  Well, at least in Gracie’s mind, she is a toddler!  Gracie says that she has to be a toddler since she gets around the farm more than anyone and a baby cannot walk, right??  Ellie believes Gracie and loves her with all of her heart.  We all love Gracie! 🙂

image
Well, look here and how nice it is to see us three sisters together. 🙂

image
Gracie wants you to see that she has legs that do “toddle” very well!  That is how she moves around when Mummy is not watching. 😉

image
Three sisters in a row sharing sisterly affection. 🙂

image
Loving sisters up close.

image
Gracie without her hat.

image
Ellie and I want Gracie to stand up but….

image
Gracie says let’s sit down to wave goodbye to everyone that has visited us.

image
We are also sending big hugs and well wishes for the week to come. 🙂

image
A parting, framed gift of dear Ellie, from me, Betsy, to everyone that loves toddlers. ❤
