About mountainmullins

Sasha doll collector primarily plus other interesting dolls. I inheirited my love of dolls from my dear Mother and also her collection. My first Sasha doll was Gwennie, a redheaded studio doll. Since Gwennie, I have collected other Sasha dolls and love their individual personalities created by their eye painting, hair color and styling, and dressing them. It is such fun to share with other collectors!

Rays of Sunshine on the Nativity

Image

image
I really love our large, hammered metal nativity scene of Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus that has white lights in a clear rope that runs around the edges of each figure.  It looks beautiful in the day or the night. ❤

I have always loved nativity scenes, both large and small, and was lucky to catch a very narrow window of a few rays of sunshine.  So, I was able to take a few photos outdoors just before my dear husband took down the nativity to store it away until next Christmas.

image
It was very cold that day so I bundled up baby Avania and helped Joy and Quinn to find warm duffle coats to wear and knitted boggins too. 🙂

image
Joy wanted to bring a wagon instead of a stroller for Avania to sit and enjoy the sun. Joy was sure to add Avania’s bunny but also found a red wagon and doll for Avania to play with and enjoy the outdoors.  Joy’s duffle coat was made by Ruth’s Dolls and her boggin was knitted by Maryanne Getchell on Etsy.  It matches her sweater which you can’t see because her warm duffle coat is covering it very well. 🙂

image
Avania likes to feel the sun on her face. 🙂

image
Joy is also enjoying the sunshine. Joy is a 1966 early English production girl.  Her red hair is super thick and long and braids well. I love her blue eyes!

image
Quinn is a most favorite boy here at Sasha Shangri-La and is a Shorts boy that was found on Shelly’s site and was previously owned by Ronnie (Ronnie, Quinn sends his love to you!).  I do not know who knitted his boggin but it was well done.  His slacks were made by Gotz and his blue leather boots were made by Jean Jensen. 🙂

Another group photo of this happy trio enjoying a bit of sunshine. 🙂

A last photo of our nativity scene with the old barn in the background and rolled hay bales in the very far distance, past the barn.  Tomorrow, I return to work and I have so enjoyed my time off during the holidays.

All of us here at Sasha Shangri-La want to thank you for visiting.  We are sending you warm hugs to help you endure these cold days and also sending our heart-felt wishes for a wonderful week to come! 🙂 xxx

2015 A Happy New Year —It’s a Baby!

Image

image
What better way to start a new year than by introducing a new baby?  This sweet baby girl is Avania and she has been wonderfully repainted by Kelly Wenarsky.  Avania began as a 1980’s baby and she now has newly painted and beautiful eyes, freckles, and a great Monique gold synthetic mohair wig with a great blending of colors.  Precious baby girl and I am ver happy to adopt Avania, my first Kelly repaint. 🙂

image
Avania is signed and dated on her left foot. She came to Sasha Shangri-La wearing this cute outfit made by Alexissophie. 🙂

image
She also came with her very own snugglie, a terry cloth bunny with a white cotton tail of course!

image
Val is welcoming Avania and she just loves her new baby sister. 🙂

image
Val is explaining to Avania that there are other sister and brothers too that she will be meeting soon and that each and every one will love her!  Avania is so happy to know she is loved! ❤

image
Jean can’t resist babies and so she also reaches out to Avania with great love and affection. ❤

image
We love you baby sister, dear Avania!! ❤

image
Avania is feeling very happy to be be with her loving sisters, Val and Jean.  She loves them too!  Avania sends her love to you too and She sends her big baby hugs and she wishes for you to have the bestest year in 2015 possible! 🙂 xxx

Pretty Girls in New Outfits

Image

image
This lovely brunette has repainted eyes by Shelly. Her name is Nancy. 🙂

image
Nancy’s lovely outfit is an ebay find and was made by Nadia in Switzerland. It arrived here a few weeks before Christmas.  I really like it on Nancy and she is a bit taller than most of the girls here so the slacks worked very well for her.  Her nice leather boots came with an outfit made by a talented lady in Scotland whose name escapes me.

image
A close up view of Nancy. I think she is beautiful. 🙂

image
Next is Jean, a bobbed hair girl that I suspect was made in 1970 though she had no stringing to go by when she arrived here at Sasha Shangri-La. I was lucky to find a girl with her hair cut because I would not attempt hair cutting which is better left to more capable hands than mine. Her lovely cardigan was made by the talented Linda Simpson of the UK. I bought her dress from Shelly’s site and do not know the maker. Her shoes are made in the Kathe Kruse doll factory in Germany. 🙂

A close view of Jean and her pretty face! 🙂

Rena, a 2001 Gotz-Yamka

Rena, a 2001 Gotz-Yamka

Please meet Rena, a 2001 Gotz girl also known as Yamka. She picked out this lovely ballet outfit to wear as soon as she was liberated from her tube. 🙂

image
Rena has wanted to be a ballerina ever since she saw the Nutcracker way back when she was born in 2001. So now she finally has her own tutu and ballet slippers. A dream come true for Rena! 🙂

image
A pretty and serious ballerina, Rena. ❤

image
The sweet waif Val has been wearing Sharon’s Ra-ra outfit since it came out of the package months ago. When this new outfit came several weeks ago, I convinced Val to give it a try. She agreed only if she could keep her purple striped socks on plus her much loved purple leather shoes made by Jean Jensen. That was all well and good for me because Val looks delightful in this ensemble. 🙂

image
This pretty dress, with very nice detailing, was made by Maureen Hellenbeck of the Upstairs Doll Studio on Etsy though I did find this dress on ebay. I think Maureen sells on both places. 🙂

image
I love this dress and especially the fabric, the stacked buttons, the neckline and the length!   It is just a fun outfit to wear!  Val will always be a special waif to me because she came in a tiny box with no stringing in sight. Her hair has always had its own way too but that’s okay with me.  She is a fun, trendy girl. 🙂

A last photo for this post of dear Val up close. Have a wonderful week everyone!!! 🙂 xxx

Another Christmas, Long Ago

Image

image
Christmas always brings to the forefront of my mind, thoughts of Christmas past.  I thought I would share this most precious of my possessions, a photograph of my beloved Grandfather, Harold Long. I am five years old in the photo and I loved every moment spent with this gentle and kind soul. He passed away when I was seven but my recollection of us together is amazingly clear and strong.  What a gift! ❤

Happy holidays everyone and I hope you enjoy your blessings with your families and friends! Much love! ❤
