About mountainmullins

Sasha doll collector primarily plus other interesting dolls. I inheirited my love of dolls from my dear Mother and also her collection. My first Sasha doll was Gwennie, a redheaded studio doll. Since Gwennie, I have collected other Sasha dolls and love their individual personalities created by their eye painting, hair color and styling, and dressing them. It is such fun to share with other collectors!

Water, Water, and More Water, Water, Water…

Image

We are experiencing extraordinary rainfall in July.  It has rained every day and many days we have had major downpours along with the expected thunder and lightening. I am reminded of the old saying “Rain, rain go away…come again some other day!” Since I am not able to take photos outdoors, I have been playing with a new computer application that transforms a photograph into a work of artistic expression. Specifically, this program creates a “water” color expression of a photo and I have to say that this “water” medium is most appropriate at this time and it is also a wink and a nod towards our dreary weather. 😉 So, making the best of a bad weather situation, I hope you have a substantial sized cup of tea and/or coffee to sip while you sit back, relax and view this substantial sized post.  I hope you enjoy these Sasha Shangri-La watercolor masterpieces. 😉 image Abby, an A1 early studio girl. ❤ image Amber, 1966 Gotz girl. ❤ image Sylvia, 1966 NP girl. ❤ image Heidi, Janet Myhill-Dabbs repaint, 1970’s Trendon girl. ❤ image Finn, 1967 NP boy. ❤ image Tink, Kelly Wenarsky repaint. ❤ image Gwennie, BIII studio girl. ❤ image Ryder, 1960’s Gotz straight nose boy. ❤ image Zoey, 1967 NP girl. ❤ image Claudia, 1968 Dungarees girl. ❤ image Smootch, Janet Myhill-Dabbs studio doll rendition. ❤ image Joy, 1966 NP girl. ❤ image Ellie and Betsy, 2001 Gotz toddlers (Ionas). ❤ ❤ image Drew, 1968 Trendon boy. ❤ image Briana, 1965 Gotz girl. ❤ image Gracie, studio bebe and Marie, BIII studio girl. ❤ image Jessie, 1967 NP girl. ❤ image Mae, 1966 Gotz girl. ❤ image Faith, 1968 fringe girl. ❤ image Emily, Trendon factory anomaly, blue eyed brunette. ❤ image Hazel, Gotz no navel girl. ❤ image Whitney, a glorious reroot with braiding by Sarah Willams. ❤ image Peg, Gotz no nose. ❤ image Jackie, 1970’s wide face gingham girl. ❤ image Course dolls with bebe Gracie. ❤ image Fozzie Bear with Lucy, Cassie Rogers repaint, Emma Flood reroot. ❤ image Kim, factory anomaly, a Gregor with lashes. ❤ image Trendon. ❤ image Rena, Gotz Yamka. ❤ image Adeline, 1967 NP girl. ❤ image Val, 1968 waif Trendon girl. ❤ image Brett, 1969 Trendon boy. ❤ image Casey, 1969 Dungarees girl. ❤ image Ebo, Shelly Baxter repaint. ❤ image Tilly, 1967 NP girl. ❤ image Fara, 1968 fringe girl. ❤ image Claire, BIII studio girl. ❤ image Chris, 1968 shorts boy. ❤ image Sarah, 1970 Gotz no navel girl. ❤ image Ellen, 1966-67 NP girl. ❤ image Avania, Kelly Wenarsky repainted baby. ❤ image Quinn, 1968 shorts boy. ❤ image Diana, 1965/66 Gotz girl. ❤ image Gertie, Janet Myhill-Dabbs repaint. ❤ image Gracie, studio bebe. ❤ image Mike, 1970’s Trendon boy. ❤ image Marcie, 1970 Gotz no navel. ❤ image Johhny, 2001 Gotz toddler (Erik) ❤ image Polly, Nikki repaint. ❤ image Chloe, 1966 NP girl. ❤ image Lewis, 1968 Trendon boy. ❤ image Duncan Hans, factory anomaly, blue eyed brunette boy. ❤ image Carney, 1966 NP girl. ❤ image Ben, BII studio boy. ❤ image Gertie again, Janet Myhill-Dabbs repaint. ❤ image Joey, 1970 PJ boy. ❤ image Briana again, 1965 Gotz girl. ❤ image Ryder again, Gotz straight nose boy. ❤ image Carney again, 1966 NP girl. ❤ image Max, Cassie Rogers repaint. ❤ image Nancy, 1980’s Shelly Baxter repaint. ❤ image Pearl, 1966 NP girl. ❤ image Tassie and Sammie, Cassie Rogers repaints. ❤ ❤ image A Sasha Gathering. ❤ image Little Dawn, 1960’s Gotz girl. ❤ image A peek at Gigi, a BIII studio girl soon to be introduced. ❤ image Kate, Janet Myhill-Dabbs studio rendition. ❤ image Ginny with llama, 1970’s gingham girl. ❤ image Finn and Chloe again. image Audrey, 1968 wide face girl. ❤ image Felix (Cassie’s NP boy) and Finn. image Jean, 1970’s bobbed hair girl. ❤ image Gertie again. ❤ image Pearl waving goodbye and sending lovely wishes for the week to come. Briana

image
Every day has been rainy lately but I took a few photos in between drops yesterday. Briana is a new addition to the Sasha Shangri-La family. 🙂

image
Briana is a yellow eyed Gotz girl with dainty lashes and was made in 1965.  She is wearing an original Gotz outfit. ❤

image
The rain came and back indoors we went! 😦

image
Briana’s hair is very soft and silky. 🙂

A close up photo of pretty Briana. ❤

Thank you for visiting Sasha Shangri-La.  Briana and I are sending you hugs and wishing you all a beautiful week to come. 🙂 xxx

Happy Birthday Mom! —- Gertie Revisited

Image

image
Today was my mother’s birthday and although she passed away in 2004, I think of her every day and especially on important days like birthdays. 🙂

My Mother gave me critical and important lessons in abundance. I think now of the great love she had for her family and the many lessons of character-building importance that she gave me over my formulative years. Some were delightful to receive and some were painful to receive but I have to say that all were necessary and important lessons for me. Thank you Mom! ❤

One hobby that my mother embraced was collecting dolls and she loved her dolls! Her doll collecting really “took off” after she retired from working at Union Carbide for nearly 40 years. When ebay first began, we would get on her computer together and look at dolls and dream and sometimes buy one. This is such a fond memory for me today. 🙂

I learned about Sasha dolls after Mom passed and I am certain she would be thrilled to know that I am a doll collector today and that the love of dolls, which she instilled in me, is still there–alive and well. Thank you Mom! ❤

In honor of my Mom, I am posting photos of the beautiful Gertie wearing two different outfits and both were made by Helena of Dolliepatch. I hope you enjoy this post of Gertie revisted. 🙂

image
Gertie’s dress by Dolliepatch is made of silk and her leather shoes are by Sashapotamus. 🙂

image
Most of you remember that Gertie was lovingly repainted by the talented artist, Janet Myhill-Dabbs. ❤

image
A peek at the pretty undergarments. 😉

image
A full view of Gertie. ❤

image
A closer view for you to see. 🙂

image
I was so fond of this style of dress for Gertie that I thought to buy a lighter, more summery version of a studio dress from Dolliepatch. 🙂

image
Gertie wearing her new dress. Her leather slip on shoes were made by Janet and were on another doll that my dear husband, upon a close inspection of the new repainted dolls, affectionally named “Smootch”. So, our sweet Smootch loaned her shoes to Gertie. 🙂

image
Gertie up close. Notice the pretty tatted or crocheted collar. It is detachable and buttons in the back. 🙂

image
It rained so much over the weekend that these photos were taken indoors by necessity and so are not nearly as clear.  Please excuse the strays hairs. 😦

image
A different view of Gertie. 🙂

image
Gertie holding her precious baby given to her by her twin sister Edith who lives with Janet. ❤

Gertie sends her love to her sister, Edith. ❤

image
This photo is very special because one of the gifts my Mom gave to me was the love of reading. We come from a very long line of avid readers. Little Women is one of my favorite all-time books! Gertie loves to read and to be read to by me. 🙂

image
A tiny peek at the undergarments. 😉   They are a beautiful pale aqua color. 🙂

image
Gertie reminded me that we took photos of when her gift arrived from Janet and Edith. So, here are the photos! 🙂

A wave goodbye to you all on this lovely July 6th day. Have a beautiful and a peaceful week to come. ❤ xxx

My Boy Max

Image

image
When I left California, I left a blonde Gregor in the very talented hands of Cassie Rogers. The boy would be cleaned, repainted and hair dyed. Plus, Cassie perfectly outfitted him.  Please meet the very handsome, green eyed, freckle faced Max. 🙂

image
Max up close. ❤

Another full length photo of Max. 🙂

image
Cassie dressed Max wonderfully with green t-shirt, distressed jeans, and brown leather boy boots. He has a hat too that is shown in other photos. I absolutely love Max and his outfit!

image
Nice stitching and maker’s tag.

Close view of Max’s boots. 🙂

Max is an outdoors boy and he is having fun with Dad’s new fishing boat.

image
Max is so excited to see the boat’s motor. 🙂

image
Max waves to his new family.  He is a very happy boy! 🙂

image
Max said he thinks this motor is really big!

image
What a great day! Max likes his hat very much, thank you Auntie Cassie! 🙂

image
Max behind the wheel. 🙂

image
One day soon there will be a fishing pole in each white tube. Max wants to learn to fish too!

image
Little boys just love to be behind the wheel. 🙂

image
What a happy boy! 🙂

image
Max by the motor.  Dad will be placing the seat on the pole soon.  He wanted to give it a good cleaning first. 🙂

image
Max and I are sending hugs to you and we hope you enjoyed this post.  We thank you for visiting us here at Sasha Shangri-La and please accept our wishes for you to have a beautiful weekend. 🙂 xxx

Ra Ra for Gracie and No Ra Ra for Ellie

Image

image
Hi everyone, my name is Gracie! I have missed writing on the blog lately and Mummy changed her password. So, I am writing today with Mummy’s blessing to share with you some of the new outfits we received here at Sasha Shangri-La that were made by the very talented Sharon Humphreys. I am wearing my first ever ra-ra outfit and I love it! 🙂

image
Do you like my dotted socks? They are so soft and fit me perfectly.

image
Mummy asked Auntie Sharon to make two toddler outfits for girls and one for a boy. When the outfits arrived, I just knew that one of them was for me, Gracie! 🙂

image
Here is a full view of my new pretty outfit!

image
Yummy cupcakes!!! I wish I had a real cupcake. These are super nice especially since they cannot be eaten and so, will always be there. 😉

image
Oh no, it is my sweet sister, Ellie. She is crying because she does not have a ra-ra outfit to wear. She said that Betsy and Johnny put their new outfits on and there was no outfit left for her to wear. 😦

image
I feel so bad and I tell Ellie that she can have my ra-ra outfit.  Dear, sweet Ellie told me that she loves me so very much that she could not wear my ra-ra outfit because she knows how much I love it. So, I remember another new outfit that did not fit me and I ask dear Ellie if she would like to try it on. 🙂

image
Ellie is very shy but she said she would like to see it. 🙂

image
See Ellie, here are the pretty white tights and look at this pretty dress that is just your size. 🙂

image
Look Ellie, I think these new shoes are perfect for your new dress and tights. 🙂

image
Ellie, look at the dress tag, it says it was made with love by the Doll Works. I think it is very special to have a dress that was made with love. ❤

image
Ellie is so excited. She said “Look, the tights and shoes fit me perfectly.” 🙂

image
“I sure hope the dress fits me too!” Ellie shared.

image
I told Ellie that the dress fits perfectly and she looks pretty! 🙂

image
Ellie shares that she loves her new outfit even though it is not a ra-ra outfit. ❤

image
Ellie and I are happy sisters and we are now going to join our sister Betsy and brother Johnny oudoors. 🙂

image
Well, here we are outdoors and sitting on Dad’s new fishing boat. It was his birthday present and he is so happy! 🙂

image
It is so nice to be together and be outdoors on a beautiful day.

image
Don’t I look pretty in my new outfit?

image
Johnny is waving hello. He loves his outfit that Sharon has made just for him. What a darling little doggie and the pants fit him perfectly. Mummy said she loved the little elastic in the waistline which helped to fit him better. 🙂

image
Johnny wanted to show you all his new socks too. They match his shirt and he loves them very much. ❤

image
Look at sweet Betsy sitting up high and wearing her new ra-ra outfit. What a pretty green skirt and top with a bee hive, flower, a butterfly and a bow too! Betsy says she loves her socks too. I think we all love Auntie Sharon’s socks and outfits very much indeed! Thank you Auntie Sharon! 🙂

image
A photo of just us girls. Johnny did not mind at all, he would rather be fishing with Dad! 😉

image
We are waving to you all. Oh what a happy day for us toddlers at Sasha Shangri-La! 🙂

image
We are sending big hugs to you and we thank you for visiting us. We hope you have a wonderful week to come! 🙂 xxx

image
p.s. It’s me Gracie and I wanted to send extra big hugs to you all and I want to say that I am just so very happy to live here with my brothers and sisters and we all love each other very much. We all especially love Mummy and Daddy. Oh happy days!
