Goodbye May, Hello Mae

image
Time to say goodbye to the month of May, one of my favorite months of the year. I love the warmer days from those remembered during the long and lingering winter. Most of all, I love the beautiful new display of flowers and trees and the return of the hummingbirds and other birds and wildlife. There are so many varied shades of green in the trees and that means new life to me. โค

I am very vunerable to Sasha waifs and this pretty little golden eyed 1960’s Gotz girl captured my heart on Shelly’s site. I watched her for what seemed like an eternity and finally contacted Shelly and adopted her. ๐Ÿ™‚

Remember her now??? ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  This was Shelly’s photo.ย  She is a waif most definitely!

This little girl is quite assertive and immediately wasted no time and told me her name was “Mae” ๐Ÿ™‚

Her hair is very silky and her fringe strands are shorter so we tried placing a pretty clip sweeping most of the fringe aside. ๐Ÿ™‚

I had this nice butterfly dress made by Jadzia and found a pair of gold leather JJ shoes for Mae to wear.ย ย  Sheย loves her new outfit. โค

A photo of her looking off in the distance. Wonder what is commanding her attention?….

Well, hello there girls!ย  Now I see that Mae was looking at Tassie (redhead) and Sammie who are both lovely repaints by Cassie Rogers and also recently adopted. โค

It is so nice to see these girls together and they have become fast friends since they arrived at Sasha Shangri-La at nearly the same point in time. ๐Ÿ™‚

A final photo for you to see. Tassie, Mae, Sammie, and I all wish you a wonderful week to comeย as we begin to live inย the beautiful month of June! ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

  1. She is unreconizable. Between her bangs swept to the side and that color on her she is a new girl–and a very lovely one at that. That shade of red is perfect for her. Congratulations on another lovely girl joining your family.

    • Hi Julie! Thank you so much! I agree and think that Mae looks entirely different now. The red in her dress is the best color for her and her sweet face seems to glow now. A dear little girl. ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

  2. How lovely that you adopted this charming little waif Ginger, she looks lovely with her hair swept to the side and that lovely red dress suits her so well. I love your two new Cassie repaints too, what an exciting beginning to the month of June xxx

    • Thank you Janet. I am happy you like Mae and her new outfit too. Cassie’s repaints are wonderful and I love most repaints to include yours!!! โค June is sure to be a very exciting month! ๐Ÿ˜‰ xxx

  3. I just adore her dress Ginger – as a fan of butterflies as you know! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Doesn’t she look a treat now, what a difference, just goes to show what a little attention can do for a girl ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hi Lorraine and thank you! I remember your butterfly photos very well and especially the photos where they would land on the dolls. So wonderful to see!

Mae looks much better now I think and that was all she needed really, just a little encouragement and affection. โค xxx

  4. What a pretty girl Mae is, Ginger! She’s lovely, and so is her outfit. She’s fitting in very well with the rest of your sweet family there at Sasha Shangri-La!

  5. Hello to a very busy Sasha Mommy!

Wow! You have adopted so many lovely girls (and one boy) so quickly! I’m really quite jealous. How lucky all those wonderful children are to have come to your beautiful Sasha Shangri-La with such a great and loving family, and how lucky for you to be able to adopt all those new sweethearts. The dress is really pretty and it looks lovely on your beautiful new Mae, and Pearl is so sweet and pretty, and her dress is adorable.

I love your photographs! Those dolls are just so full of expression. They are so photogenic and can convey such a wealth of emotion just with the simple tip of the head or a slightly different pose. The old barn is a wonderful background for your photographs.

Yes, I too am enjoying the arrival of June here in the Hills (I won’t say mountains, since I have seen real mountains in Switzerland, my mother’s home country), of Pennsylvania. It is probably the prettiest month around here and still not too hot, but May was lovely anyway.

Thank you once again for sharing more of your good fortune and perfect Sasha dolls. It gives me such a warm and happy feeling to follow your blog, and all my dolls want to tell you how much they enjoy getting to know yours. “It makes us feel like we have a big Sasha family right nearby!” says my sweet waif invalid, Claire. Her positive attitude, despite her health difficulties is truly inspiring. Just like your sweet and joyful blog.

Keep enjoying your wonderful Sasha family and we send you hugs and kisses to see you into June.

    Sincerely,

Elisabeth, Claire and the family of Fern Woods

    • Thank you Elisabeth! Yes, the adoption rate has really soared here lately at Sasha Shangri-La. I am happy that you have enjoyed the posts of Mae and Pearl. I have enjoyed photographing them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sasha dolls are very photogenic and I have found that the camera really loves the dolls with the wider faces and the handpainted eyes are always easy to photograph. I am glad you like the barn backdrop. I like it too but I am still looking for another special place to take photos.

I refer to our mountains as hills too. Since we live in adjoining states, we have similar terrain. How nice that your Mother is from Switzerland. What a beautuful country!

You are most welcome and I enjoy posting to the blog and watching other Sasha blogs too. I also find Sasha blogs inspiring to see and to read. Your sweet Claire sounds like a dear girl. I would like to see her one day. Thank you for the nice June wishes! ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

  6. Hell Mae , you are a little beauty to see out the month of May with. It’s lovely seeing the Sasha’s on Shelly’s and then seeing them receive some love and attention from their new mum’s and watching them bloom now they are loved once again.
Love how you have taken her scrappy fringe over to the side, gives her a whole new look. :)xxx

    • Hi Dee and thank you for the lovely compliments for Mae. I love her new looks too. She really photographs well and she is a very happy addition to the Sasha family. ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

  7. Always great seeing and finding out where another Sasha Doll from Sashadolluk ends up.

I’m very fond of this style of the early Gotz eye-painting and love how the golden butterflies on her dress enhance their golden hue. I can’t understand just how the later 1990s Gotz dolls came to have such poor bland and insipid eye-styles after these super early examples.
Rather struggling a little to keep up with all your new dolls arriving of late. It’s a good job that you didn’t put a limit on YOUR new dolls this year as part of your New Year’s Resolution as we did as just think of what you would have now been missing!

in our Catholic religion we always refer to May as being The Month of Mary’ but I think that in your case we can definitely assume to say….’May is the month of Sasha!’

    • Hi Kendal and thank you for the lovely comments. I don’t understand why the earlier eye paintings were not continued on the later Gotz dolls. It would have been so nice if they had continued painting them.

I do have a number for 2015 of 12 Sasha dolls but I had planned to subtract any Sashas that I adopted out. Even so, I will probably exceed 12 dolls and am happy to do it! You are so right to say that May has been my month of Sasha. What a great month! ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx
