Verity is a beautiful repaint by Janet Myhill Dabbs. She was inspired by a Sasha studio doll. She has been wearing her original green gingham dress until today.
I received a Christmas present from Tricia Jackson of a beautiful, handmade floral dress with an amazing felt vest embroidered with sunny, lovely flowers. I love it so! Thank you my friend. ❤️
A full-length view of the lovely Verity with her tiny pup. Her shoes and socks were made by Betsy May.
A close-up view of the beautiful embroidery.
Verity and I thank you for visiting us today. We wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
A Cow Creek sneak peek to brighten your day.
A happy trio that stirs many lovely memories in my heart. First is a special Izannah Walker reproduction by Dixie Redmond, an original and tiny Martha Chase boy, and a very special Sasha angel baby repainted and dressed by Janet (her outfit is antique fabric with wings). Her hair was curled by Dawn Law. I almost forgot…..the knitted angel in her lap was a gift during my trip to Amsterdam. 💕
I just started blogging recently after a 2 year hiatus and so dolls have been added to the Sasha Shangri-la family during this time that are new to the blog.
In 2024, I adopted 3 studio dolls, and with each one I would say to my dear husband, ‘What a wonderful Christmas present!’ And he would say, ‘Oh how nice to have the shopping done ahead of time’ (wink… wink). So, I thought it would be good to introduce them on the blog at Christmas time.
From left to right in this first photo is Julia, Kelly, and Trix.
Julia is a BIII, Kelly is a CIII, and Trix is a BI or a BII. What do you think? I welcome your input please.
I adopted Julia and Trix from a good friend in Switzerland. Kelly was adopted here in the USA.
A couple of close up photos of Julia’s lovely features. I dressed her in a tagged studio dress that I have had a while and wrapped a beautiful shawl around her made by Diane Duke.
Julia’s head is hard plastic. Sasha used the sgraffito technique by using the tip of her bush to impress extra interest to the eyes. Lovely to see. Also, very expressive brows and nicely defined upper and lower lashes.
Beautiful Trix has a gypsum head. Sasha painted beautiful blue eyes, faint upper lashes, and inquiring brows. I love Sasha’s paintings.
Kelly came with her original outfit, including tagged dress, coat, and hat. She has a sleeveless dress, undergarments, socks, shoes, and even her mittens.
Her blonde hair is long and full. Her eye painting is beautiful. Kelly has a sweet, confident look. Her quirky brow adds so much. I named Kelly in memory of Kelly Wenarsky. Kelly passed away this past year and she was a wonderfully talented artist. She repainted Sasha dolls beautifully for years. She had a Sasha site long before Facebook came about, and she helped so many of us to learn more about Sasha and her dolls. 💝
Kelly’s foot is marked. A 1964 girl. She sure looks great for 60 years old!
A few more photos of pretty Trix and Julia holding their Christmas stockings. These stockings were made by a dear friend who lives in the UK.
This happy trio of girls and I want to thank you for visiting the blog today. All of here at Sasha Shangri-la send you happy Christmas wishes, and we hope you have a blessed holiday and a very happy and healthy New Year. 😊 🎄 🥳
I have a Cow Creek sneak peek to share with you.
Another trio of unexpected dears that are resting in Christmas clutter. A Steiff bear (who is crowned a king), an Izannah Walker reproduction artist doll (holding her birds and book), and an antique mache beauty (clutching her purse). 🥰
We have had unreasonably warm/hot weather this Fall until the past week or so. I was so happy that the weather cooled and that we also received one good all- day soaking from prayed-for rains that we so needed.
This time of year always especially brings to mind things I am thankful for as our Thanksgiving Day is next week. I am very thankful for the rain and for “Sweater Weather “.
My birthday was last week and I received in the mail a wonderful birthday present from my friend Janet. Janet lives in the UK and she knitted 2 beautiful sweaters for girls here at Sasha Shangri-la.
Hazel on a Fall day
Hazel is a no navel adopted recently and she came in a lovely sleeveless dress. I thought she needed a sweater since it is cooler now and this beautiful cardigan is a great match for her.
A beautiful outfit for Hazel. Next, I chose another new arrival to wear the second gifted sweater.
Berry wearing a new cardigan
I have named this new girl “Berry”. She was “picked” from a berry patch (auction house) in Switzerland. Her new sweater looks lovely with her Ruthsdolls dress. 😉
Both sweaters have sweet heart tags with Janet’s initials. They also came with a strand of pearls each which we are saving for a special time. 🥰
Berry and Hazel
Berry and Hazel are sending you happy wishes for a wonderful week ahead. Thank you for visiting.
This blog post’s sneak peek caught two delightful bears enjoying a timeout in the stacks. 🥰
Some time ago, I bought this handsome, straight nose Gotz Boy who was missing much hair. Here are his first “before” photos.
I knew I couldn’t re-root the boy, so I contacted the very talented Jackie Rydstrom who kindly agreed to help the boy regain a full head of hair. I sent him off for his hair treatment and here are his “after” photos taken by Jackie.
What a handsome boy! I am very grateful to Jackie for her excellent work. I took a couple of photos yesterday for you to see.
A very handsome lad and our sole Gotz Boy here at Sasha Shangri-la. Thank you for visiting with us. We hope you have a wonderful day and week to come. 🥰
I wanted to share the rest of the story about Gracie’s studio dress. My recent post about Gracie’s dress was really the end of an interesting and happy story.
In August, I received emails from an online auction house that routinely contacts me when the word “Sasha” is in the title or description of an auction item. This particular email was about an auction involving several interesting Sasha studio dolls that really perked my interest. So I clicked on the link to have a look.
There were some very nice dolls in this auction located in Switzerland. One doll was a redheaded early Gotz girl with ochre eyes. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to her because I was focusing on the beautiful studio dolls.
This is the photo as shown by the auction house!
The written auction description said that the dress was labeled. I then thought it must be a studio dress but not for the usual size Sasha studio ( ranging from 19-22 inches) but a smaller studio doll like a Sasha studio bebe. Also, noting the length of the dress and sleeve length on this 16 inch tall vinyl doll, I was pretty certain this would fit a Sasha bebe.
I was so excited because Gracie, a studio bebe, came to me in a lovely but unoriginal dress. I had hoped to one day find her a studio dress of her own. I registered for the auction and placed my high bid. I won!
My kind friend from Switzerland, who retrieved the doll after I had won the auction, sent these photos to me with the happy confirmation that it was a studio dress for a bebe!
Sasha label
Fast forward to today… Gracie is so very happy with her new studio dress and I don’t think she will take it off anytime soon. I have a couple of additional photos of the happy baby girl. (I am getting better at posting photos 😊)
Before I forget, there was also an addition to the Sasha doll family….the sweet girl that modeled Gracie’s dress. She, too, is very nice. I dressed her quickly in a Ruth’s doll outfit having Fall colors.
Gotz Girls
Isn’t she sweet? I haven’t named her yet. She has a nice early Gotz wrist tag with the blue thread. She is standing next to a wonderful no-navel Gotz girl I recently adopted from Dee. Her name is Hazel. So lovely to see them together.
Thank you for visiting us today here at Sasha Shangri-la. I hope you enjoyed the “Rest of the Story.” Gracie and I are sending you happy wishes for a great day and week ahead. 🥰
