About mountainmullins

Sasha doll collector primarily plus other interesting dolls. I inheirited my love of dolls from my dear Mother and also her collection. My first Sasha doll was Gwennie, a redheaded studio doll. Since Gwennie, I have collected other Sasha dolls and love their individual personalities created by their eye painting, hair color and styling, and dressing them. It is such fun to share with other collectors!

Doll Challenge – Pick Three….Any Three….Can You?

Image

The past twelve months have been very very good to us here at Sasha Shangri-La. They say that confession is good for the soul, so I am being good and fully disclosing the adoptions and repaintings that have occurred during the past 12 months. I am also really struggling with selecting only 3 Sashas as favorite dolls. It is similar to asking a mother to select a favorite son or daughter……it just cannot be done.

So, I thought it would be nice to show all of them here together and hopefully you will enjoy seeing them again. If you would like to weigh-in and let me know your favorites or your top three picks, please do! I love hearing from you and it is interesting to know the dolls that really touch your heart. ❤

1993 Course Dolls made by Ann Chandler

1993 Course Dolls made by Ann Chandler

Heiri and Laura Marie

After listing the dolls that  I have adopted in the past twelve months, to include the repaints which are not entirely new adoptions, I am a bit sheepish to list additional dolls that I would like to own but I think I should at least comply with the request as much as possible. 😉 So here goes….. I would like a 1) redheaded NP boy; 2) A “C” body studio doll; and 3) A toddler studio doll.

Lastly, I cannot think of others to tag as most of you have been tagged before today. If you have not been tagged, and wish to share your favorite dolls purchased in the past year, list three dolls on your wish list and tag 5 people; please consider yourself now officially tagged! Thank you all for visiting, have a wonderful weekend and I am sending hugs your way! 🙂 xxx

p.s. I have a couple of dolls that I have received but they have not been introduced on the blog so I have left them off this list and will show them very soon and consider them as being adopted in the next 12 months. 😉

p.s.s.  Dee, how did I do???

Saying Goodbye to the Outer Banks

Image

image

A view of the sun rising on the morning of our last day at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Such a beautiful place to visit.

image
Rick and I walked along the beach with Shelby early each day.  She really enjoyed her walks. 🙂

image
I am so happy we brought dear Shelby with us. It was a perfect family outing. ❤

image
Later, we returned to the beach for a walk and, as you can see, my son Tyler was able to join us mid-week which made our perfect family outing even more perfect. ❤

image
A lovely pelican flew by which was often seen along the beach. 🙂

image
Pearl finally made it to the beach and spent most of her time playing in the sand. She made a big castle with a nice moat. 🙂

image
Pearl loves her sand bucket and became a little tired after all of her hard work! 😉

image
She finally rested and enjoyed the ocean view. 🙂

image
Pearl and I enjoyed watching the boys play ball. 🙂

image
Pearl sadly waves goodbye to the ocean that is so big and beautiful to see. She said that she will miss the beach.

image
What we leave behind are our footprints in the sand.  What we take with us are the fondest memories of loving times spent together as a family. ❤

Thank you all for visiting us while we were on holiday and away from Sasha Shangri-La.  It was a special time for our family and it is always nice to return safely home and rekindle our love of the mountains and our little piece of heaven on earth, Sasha Shangri-La.  We are sending you big hugs and happy wishes for a wonderful week to come. 🙂 xxx

Finn, Pearl and Gertie on Vacation……..Where?

Image

image

Finn and his pup Fetch are reassuring their sisters Pearl (white sandals) and Gertie (blue sandals) that everything is okay.  Both girls were alarmed because they woke up in a new and different place.  Finn explained to them that sometimes Mommy is able to take a vacation with Daddy and that she likes to bring a few of the Sasha Shangri-La family members along to have fun!  Finn pointed out that is why they have their summer fun clothes on! 🙂

image

This is the first sunrise we saw at the beach. 🙂

image
Rick and I took an early morning stroll on the beach with sweet Shelby. This is her first road trip and first beach beach trip and she did incredibly well on the 9 hour trip. She also loves the sand at the beach but not so much the water. 🙂

image
The walkway from the beach and our house is the dark gold colored one on the left. 🙂

image
Finn at the beach later in the afternoon. The sun was very hot and bright!  His shorts were made by Dollydoodles. His leather sandals were made by Jean Jensen. 🙂

image
Finn loves the beach! He visited Cassie Rogers at the beach last month in Santa Monica, California and was able to see the Pacific Ocean.  Now he is in Corolla located along the Outer Banks of North Carolina and he is seeing the Atlantic Ocean. I think Finn could be a beach boy very easily. 🙂

Finn asked for a map to show Pearl and Gertie where they were and I found one! 🙂

image
Corolla is located at the northern end of the Outer Banks. 🙂

image
Today Pearl and Gertie were playing in the kitchen.  I think they are enjoying their vacation! Pearl’s red blouse and striped shorts set were made by Millie Dingham.  Gertie’s red shorts were made by JoAnn Staricha and both pairs of leather sandals were made by Jean Jensen. 🙂

image
Pearl said she was having a great time at the beach!  Gertie said that it was her turn to go to the beach today. 🙂

image
Pearl is happy for Gertie. The day is lovely and Pearl will go to the beach tomorrow. 🙂

image
At the beach, Gertie rests with my dear hubby and he is keeping her from getting too much sand in her clothes!

image
Gertie is so happy, she loves the ocean! ❤

image

The ocean is very nice today. 🙂

image
Rick and our son Luke are really enjoying the water. 🙂

image
Back home it is time to get lunch.  Gertie is looking for Pearl. 😉

image
There you are dear Pearl! You will love the beach!  Thank you Sis, I think so too! ❤

image
What a nice day today is and we are grateful to be able to share happy times together on vacation. 🙂 xxx

Please Welcome Gertie and Heidi to Sasha Shangri-La

Image

image

This is my darling Gertie that was repainted by Janet Myhill-Dabbs recently.  She is a twin to Janet’s “Edith” and they were both on display at the recent Sasha Celebration weekend in the UK.  Gertie has really touched my heart in a very special way. ❤

image
Gertie came to me in this lovely outfit and it is perfect with her coloring. ❤

image

A nice closer view of Gertie.  She was previously a Pinntucks girls before her repainting.  Janet dyed her wig and styled it into plaits which I love ❤

image
Gertie was barefooted so I added the hand knitted socks and nice leather JJ shoes.

image

A side view of Gertie.  Gertie was inspired by a vinyl girl that sold on ebay recently and she was handpainted by Sasha Morgenthaler. 🙂

image

A closer view of Gertie.  It was windy that day so please ignore the wayward hairs strands.

image

Another full length view of sweet Gertie. ❤

image

She looks nice with her plaits behind her shoulders too.  I am totally smitten and so I took many photos. ❤

image

A real close-up photo for you to see.  I am so amazed at Janet’s artistic talents and her other talents too. 🙂

image

This sweet girl is Heidi and she was previously a 70’s Trendon girl and Janet has wonderfully repainted her face. ❤

image

Some of you may have seen Heidi on facebook where Janet showed her in this farm pants outfit with duffle coat.  Also, some of you may have seen Heidi on display at the recent Sasha Celebration weekend.  Heidi’s eye painting was inspired by a very early Gotz girl that sold on ebay recently and that girl was wearing this outfit. 🙂

image
Heidi’s dress was made by Frances Trickett. If you look closely, you will see tiny little beads that line the neck and arm openings on this wonderful dress. Such nice detailing. Heidi’s white leather sandals were made by Jean Jensen. 🙂

image
A closer view of Heidi’s pretty face. 🙂

image
I took a few photos of Heidi with Gertie. They both traveled to Sasha Shangri-La in the same box and have become great friends! 🙂

image

A full length view of Heidi and Gertie. 🙂

image
Hi there girls, are you taking-in your new surroundings? 😉

image

A final photo and both girls and I want to kindly thank you for visiting us here at Sasha Shangri-La.  We are sending you big hugs and happy wishes for a wonderful weekend to come! 🙂 xxx

Two Studio Doll Interpretations by Janet Myhill-Dabbs

Image

image
Last year I was thrilled to learn that Janet Myhill-Dabbs was planning to interpret 20 studio dolls made by Sasha Morgenthaler herself. I contacted Janet and she provided a list of the dolls she had under consideration. From there, we selected two dolls and I packed up two Sasha doll candidates and sent them on their way to Janet. This first doll is a doll that I particularly liked in the Sasha-Puppen Book plus I had seen her in museum photos that have been shared on facebook.  She is #11 Blond Smock. 🙂

image
This lovely Certificate was made by Janet. As you can see, this pretty girl began life as a blonde Gregor. 🙂

image
The back of the Certificate explains how Janet came to create the studio interpretations. ❤

image
Here is the lovely girl who just arrived at Sasha Shangri-La last week. She was created last Fall in 2014 and she remained in the UK in order to attend the wonderful Sasha Celebration last month.   I am happy that those in attendance were able to see her in person. 🙂

image
A closer view of this soft, sensitive girl. ❤

image
Janet made her entire outfit with wonderful handmade layers of clothing. 🙂

image
Her socks are handknitted and her slip on shoes are made of leather.  Wonderful attention to detail. ❤

image
A lovely scarf as adornment plus flowers in her hair. ❤

image
A very pretty pose. 🙂

image
A side profile of this dear, sweet girl. ❤

image
A photo of the back of her studio dress with tiny little buttons and her fabulous braid that Janet wove into her hair at my request. It was important to me to have this pretty braid addition for this girl and Janet made it so. 🙂

image
The second Studio interpretation is #7, Red Smock.  She was also created last Fall and was part of Janet’s display at the recent Sasha Celebration. 🙂

image
This beauty began life as a White Dress girl. 🙂

image
I love the fabric used for her studio dress. It reminds me of a sputnik-type or atomic age design. ❤

image
A beautiful girl now living at Sasha Shangri-La. 🙂

image
I love her strong facial features. Her unique sprinkling of freckles are a perfect surrounding to her green eyes.  Her hair was perfect as is and was left alone and it still has that hard to find, new doll smell. 🙂

image
She has lovely under garments that she shyly agreed to show. 😉

image
The knitted stripy socks and leather studio shoes are perfect. ❤

image
She is watching a butterfly that is floating by. 🙂

image
A beautiful, pensive girl. ❤

image
Thank you for visiting the blog and I hope you enjoyed seeing two of Janet’s studio renditions. It is very special to be a part of this tribute to the artistic genius of Sasha Morgenthaler. ❤
