A New Girl on the Farm

A new girl has arrived here on the farm. I found her on the Sasha Bazaar and was able to adopt her with a good friend mailing her to me across that big, old pond. She was a true waif that the seller had to cut her clothes off of her over a bin! Really aged badly for years unattended in an attic. The seller gave her a spa treatment and she began to return to life. Her hair was so bad, tangled and matted, that using a comb was not an option so her hair was soaked in a serum for 5 days. The change was remarkable! Her hair was restored to beautiful, shiny, bouncy hair with curl on the ends. More and more life was returning to this attic girl. Next she was placed in the wonderful hands of Janet Myhill Dabbs. Janet repainted the eyes and sorted her fringe out. Wow! What a transformation. A beautiful butterfly has emerged! Drum roll please…..

Please meet Rachel. This sweet, shy girl is wearing a Ruth’s doll outfit that I bought from Shelly ‘s site years ago.

Rachel’s blue eyes are beautiful and wonderfully painted. I hope you can see how full and lush her hair is after that amazing treatment.

Thank you for visiting with us today here at Sasha Shangri-la. I hope to go outdoors soon for photos of the Sasha family members. We had 76 degree weather one day and I was hopeful. The next day temperatures plummeted to 18 degrees dropping 4 inches of snow to make sure we know it is still winter. Brrrrrrr…..

A sneak peek at oldTeddy and his Kathe Kruse girlfriend. ❤️❤️

Have a wonderful day! 🥰

  1. Still struggling to reply with a comment at the bottom of the blogpost like I used to be-able to do in the ‘good old days!’

I haven’t purchased a new Sasha Doll since way before the start of Covid so instead I just enjoy seeing and reading about other collector’s new dolls like this one of yours.

Do you know which doll or year of Trendon manufacture Rachel originally was before her rescue and customisation?

I’m firstly thinking maybe a Pink Dress and secondly either a Red Pinafore/Marina/Dancing Dress as her hair is too good a condition for the slightly earlier Red Dress model.

Love and enjoy your fantastic new home. x

    • Hi Kendal. Thank you for commenting. I have asked the seller about Rachel’s previous life and what outfit she was wearing when she found her. I will let you know as soon as I learn more about her. Her hair is now beautiful and non-falling which is just super! More to come. 🥰

    • Hello Kendal. I checked with the seller and when she found Rachel, she was redressed in a non-Sasha outfit. She was so very dirty that her clothing and strings were all cut away from the doll to allow for her cleaning and spa treatment. I also talked with Janet and she not only repainted her but also rerooted her fringe. She borrowed hair from the back of her head to do the fringe. Her hair is gorgeous now and also non-falling. Janet shared her eyes were faded and that possibly she was a late 70’s doll. Her dirty outfit would also support the time frame of late 70’s to early ’80s. Poor Rachel. What a rough time she has had until she was rescued by the seller and restored to beauty by Janet. 🥰

  2. I’m so glad she finally made it across the Atlantic. What a journey she has had. She looks so cute in that lovely outfit and I am so pleased you are so enchanted ❤

    • Hi Janet. Yes, she has made it safely here. I love this dainty, floral print dress on her. I am indeed enchanted which happens every time with your beautiful paintings. I am glad Rachel is here and we are all very happy. 🥰
