A Christmas Trio of Studio Dolls

I just started blogging recently after a 2 year hiatus and so dolls have been added to the Sasha Shangri-la family during this time that are new to the blog.

In 2024, I adopted 3 studio dolls, and with each one I would say to my dear husband, ‘What a wonderful Christmas present!’ And he would say, ‘Oh how nice to have the shopping done ahead of time’ (wink… wink). So, I thought it would be good to introduce them on the blog at Christmas time.

From left to right in this first photo is Julia, Kelly, and Trix.

Julia is a BIII, Kelly is a CIII, and Trix is a BI or a BII. What do you think?  I welcome your input please.

I adopted Julia and Trix from a good friend in Switzerland.  Kelly was adopted here in the USA.

A couple of close up photos of Julia’s lovely features. I dressed her in a tagged studio dress that I have had a while and wrapped a beautiful shawl around her made by Diane Duke.

Julia’s head is hard plastic. Sasha used the sgraffito technique by using the tip of her bush to impress extra interest to the eyes. Lovely to see. Also, very expressive brows and nicely defined upper and lower lashes.

Beautiful Trix has a gypsum head. Sasha painted beautiful blue eyes, faint upper lashes, and inquiring brows. I love Sasha’s paintings.

Kelly came with her original outfit, including tagged dress, coat, and hat. She has a sleeveless dress, undergarments, socks, shoes, and even her mittens.

Her blonde hair is long and full. Her eye painting is beautiful.  Kelly has a sweet, confident look. Her quirky brow adds so much.   I named Kelly in memory of Kelly Wenarsky. Kelly passed away this past year and she was a wonderfully talented artist. She  repainted Sasha dolls beautifully for years.  She had a Sasha site long before Facebook came about, and she helped so many of us to learn more about Sasha and her dolls. 💝

Kelly’s foot is marked. A 1964 girl. She sure looks great for 60 years old!

A few more photos of pretty Trix and Julia holding their Christmas stockings. These stockings were made by a dear friend who lives in the UK.

This happy trio of girls and I want to thank you for visiting the blog today.  All of here at Sasha Shangri-la send you happy Christmas wishes, and we hope you have a blessed holiday and a very happy and healthy New Year. 😊 🎄 🥳

I have a Cow Creek sneak peek to share with you.

Another trio of unexpected dears that are resting in Christmas clutter. A Steiff bear (who is crowned a king), an Izannah Walker reproduction artist doll (holding her birds and book), and an antique mache beauty (clutching her purse). 🥰

  1. WOW, Ginger! How lucky you are to adopt three amazing Studio Dolls in one year! Congratulations to you! They are each so wonderful. Lovely that you have honored Kelly Wenarsky. We are all so saddened about her passing. Also loving your Cow Creek sneak peek.

    • Thank you, Cathy. Yes, it is a lot to see 3 studio dolls at one time, but when you spread it over a year, it eases the pain in the pocketbook. I miss Kelly very much, and she has blessed us all in the Sasha community either directly or indirectly. The sneak peek has been fun to do! 🥰

  2. Wonderful Studio girls, all different but all beautiful .

Your other three are are lovely too, I’d love a closer look at the little repro girl

    • Thank you, Tricia. Studio dolls always capture our hearts don’t they? I will send you a few photos of the artist cloth doll. She is about 10 inches tall and made by an artist here in the States. A really nice doll. 😊

  3. Another wow from me too. Thank you for describing the differences in your three girl and how they were painted. Kelly reminds me of Lara from Dr Zhivago in that outfit. You have had extra time to cherish them before Christmas! And your special extra three just exude Christmas charm. Wishing you a happy and peaceful Christmas, Viv and familyx

    • Thank you so much Viv. Kelly reminds me too of Lara now that you say that. I really love having them here with the Sasha family. So glad you enjoyed the post. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🥰

    • Thank you for persevering and placing your comments Janet. I apologize for the difficulties and please know your comments are so appreciated. I am so glad you liked the post. All studio dolls are each one so special. I am really enjoying the sneak photos too. It is a good way to share different dolls and other Cow Creek hang abouts. Merry Christmas dear Janet and to your family too. 🥰

  5. Ginger what a wonderful trio of ‘gifts’ 😉 you let into your family. Every one of the three is gorgeous and also so unique. I think it’s lovely when you can have a group to compare and see those little differences that occur over the years of Sasha’s work.

Oh I love the sneaky peek at your other dolls and bears. The little Izannah Walker repro doll is wonderful and who doesn’t love a teddy in a crown 😉

So lovely you are blogging again
