2016 Sasha Festival – Janet’s Sasha Doll Project Display and Raffles

At the 2016 Sasha Festival, Janet gave a lovely talk about how she came to create her Sasha Doll Project and her inspiration from Sasha doll books.  She created their outfits, fashioned the wigs, rerooted some, and her talented hands repainted all of them. It was wonderful to see them all together for the first time and wonderful for Janet to see this reunion. 😊

Janet received kind support and encouragement from Beth Whiehouse and get mother Elizabeth Mizerek, Anne Votaw, Laura Ward, and from Sheila Foery.  Plus the owners of the dolls who graciously sent or brought their dolls to be displayed.  Many thanks to everyone who helped to make this display happen. 🙂

I am so happy to have seen Janet’s beautiful dolls all together and in person.  Thanks again to everyone supporting this lovely display and special thanks to Janet for bringing many of the dolls over in her suitcase so that they would be a part of the Festival. ❤

The first raffle was just wonderful and included two babies, beds, furniture, clothing, and cuddly things.  Francine Briggs won this raflle! Congratulations Francine! 🙂

The second raffle was a fantastic Maria Gotz doll in the tube with many accessories to include shoes, socks, purses, folding chair, basket, quilt, outfits and a lovely note from a lovely lady that had also won the doll with all of her items in a raffle long ago.  Very, very touching to see Sasha history in this raffle.<3

Plus, I won this raffle!  I was so surprised and it is the first raffle I have ever won!

A raffle winner in disbelief! 🙂

This wonderful raffle featuring “Peter” was won by Robert McGarity. 🙂

The lovely 4th raffle with a beautiful doll and wardrobe.  I understand that one of the young girls won the 4th raffle but I do not have a name.

Thank you for visiting the blog today and I hope you enjoyed the photos.  Next time, I will share different festival events and gatherings and a lot of wonderful studio doll photos.  Have a great week! 🙂 xxx

  1. Thank you dear Ginger for taking such beautiful photos of my project and for all your help in setting them up too. I loved seeing the raffle prizes again, you were such a worthy winner ❤

  2. Love Janet’s pose here behind her glorious Replica Studio Doll display.
Like you I adored seeing the original display at the 2015 Sasha Celebration Weekend (though which had slightly more of those attractive raised doll heights to it) and spent most of my time there photographing and admiring these unique replicas.( I was even able after SO much time, to choose a few very definite favourites, the Duffle lad, the farmchild, Kandansky, the Berliner child, the girl in the wispy red wig, the blonde wigged girl in the brown farm skirt and blouse and the blonde boy in the beige linen suit)…but alas all those already had owners on account of having seen the project advertised on Facebook earlier, when I wasn’t a member… BUT there is a happy ending as I did eventually manage to have one of Janet’s creations, a replica of your Gertie, one of The Twins made especially for me. (Thanks again for giving me the permission to commission Janet.)

Really enjoyed seeing the main raffles as I hadn’t realised that there were four having only seen photos of the twin babies won by Francine and the Gotz Marie set won by you.
Looking forward to seeing your photos of the studio dolls.

  3. Wonderful to see lots of Janet’s dolls all together again for her talk and display. There is something about that boy in the linen with the brown scarf that just appeals to me and in fact I’d be happy with any of the dolls in that second photo you have on. I also love that red head in blue velvet.

Well done you on winning that lovely Sasha prize! and also to Francine It’s lovely knowing some of the people that win these things. 🙂 Well deserved 🙂
All of those prizes looked wonderful to win. Such lovely clear and detailed photos Ginger, thank you for sharing them with us 🙂 xxx

  4. Great post Ginger – I forgot to take photos at the Festival – I was a bit preoccupied! The studio dolls – and Janet – look wonderful and the 4 main raffle prizes were incredible

  5. Another great bunch of photos Ginger, thanks so much for sharing them. And wow what a lovely big surprise when you won the raffle 🙂 Gotz Maria couldn’t have gone to a better home!
The prizes were wonderful, such a lot of lovely donations.
It was also lovely to see Janet with her creations, she must be incredibly proud of herself for making these girls, boys and babies, such a super display!
    Big hugs xxxx
